I read many of the reviews from these whistles and had to comment. None of the silent whistles are truly silent! The lower pitch can be heard at very long distances perhaps a mile or so depending on weather and wind conditions. They do not work until the dog has been trained to it. First you should use the whistle when the dog is sleeping for close in work. When the ears raise when blowing it that is a good pitch to start with. I usually though leave my whistle in loud position because it is for me to bring the dog from long distances without yelling and also annoying neighbors. First train the dog to come using the same exact pitch and whistle. Then you make burst changes such as two quick blasts for a different command or 3 blasts for an even different command. This is the same whistle Sea World trainers use for the killer whales and you can hear it. Of all whistles the Acme is the highest quality. Thus it costs more. I advisse putting it on your key chain as losing one is a bummer and i have lost 2 by carrying in my pocket and they have just fallen out when taking out my keys. If you place on your key chain it will also be with you when you need it if you are a man. Now I am buying my third whistle as I can not be happy without the Acme. If you have a dog that wanders great distances there is nothing better to bring it in once you have trianed the dog to come. My dog will ignore my calling if she is wanting to smell things outside but when i use the whistle she knows I am serious and comes better than calling her with my voice. If the neighbors hear it, it is not annoying and I can whistle late at night and know the dog hears it but the neighbors if they hear anything are not annoyed because it is not loud to them and also two quick bursts are over with very quickly then there is my dog. All these whistles will work but the Acme is the highest quality and will last forever unless you misplace it.

I'm not an expert on these things, but it seems well made and it works. I've used it to call my dog, and she comes. It's not totally silent, but it's not a loud piercing noise either. I prefer it to my own loud whistle. I don't know if it works for miles. Sometimes my dog doesn't seem to hear it when the wind is blowing the wrong way and she is 100 yards away.

Anyway, I recommend it as a quality product that works, and it's adjustable to allow for differing pitches.

Great great product. I have 2 pekingese and they took up with
the training right away when I used the whistle. It is adjustable
for frequencies. I checked reviews before I purchased it and had
the best reviews by far and I see why now. Most important is to
follow the instructions and never use it out of anger, it is for
training purposes.
