mico nonet's debut album, the marmalade balloon, blends an ambient minimalist layer of vintage analog synthesizers with cello, viola, oboe and french horn, played by members of the philadelphia orchestra and berlin philharmonic. tracks from the album have been broadcast on echoes (n.p.r), star's end ambient radio, new sounds (wnyc), soundscapes (wrvu), di.fm ambient, and performance today (n.p.r.). the marmalade balloon has been included in the silent ballet's top 50 releases of 2007, and star's end ambient radio's significant releases of 2007 list.

It is rare to find an album that succinctly blends the here and now with the old World. This album plays equally well at the forefront as well as in the background and is truly unlike anything else I've ever heard. It's charming and enjoyable.
