I took advantage of an Amazon combo deal, and got these wall clips with the corresponding scratcher at a somewhat reduced price. Even still, the additional expense for the brackets seems hard to justify. I can't believe the price of the clips alone, even with the included hardware. Perhaps if they were silver-plate, it would not seem so outlandish. Nevertheless, I bought them with the scratcher, in the aforementioned combo discount, and my cats really love the wall-mounted unit. They were pretty much ignoring a rather hideous, standard beige carpet-post-type scratcher, even after re-applying catnip to the carpeted post, and were instead going for my furniture. Also, that ugly carpet-type scratcher was quite an obstacle in a small apartment - the source of many stubbed toes. I had to find an alternative, and I must repeat my Babies love their new wall-mounted Scratcher, so with that in mind, I'm glad I made the purchase. However, I think it's ludicrous that the wall clips aren't included with the Scratcher, and that they alone are listed at $35.00.
