I was a bit hesitant when I bought this pack, but I should have known that everything was going to meet my expectations simply because it's a Marmot. I returned a Gregory Baltoro 75, which is another great pack, but it was to big for what I needed it for. Also, I didn't want to spend $300 on a pack and then take it out in the field to get bumps and bruises. I just don't have the kind of money to be replacing stuff all the time. Anyways, I got a "LARGE" size Marmot Odin 50plus pack and it seems very durable with stitching/material/zippers and I believe it would hold up in the elements pretty darn well! In my pack I currently have a homemade compact fishing kit, MSR micro stove, GSI Outdoor bottle cup with 32 ounce water bottle, Purcell Trench Backpack Grill( 17in x 5.5in), 2 undies, 2 socks, 2 t-shirts, Dakota Grizzly pants, 1stove fuel canister, big military poncho, gloves, Boonie cap, couple of smaller items (lighters/hand sanitizer/headlamp/batteries ext), compact pillow, Gerber tool and I still have plenty of room to spare for a few more clothes just to give you an idea of the space inside. Like I said, this is a great pack. It also feels good around the waist and on the back. I don't think I would have a problem doing 12miles under 3hrs with this pack! (Army Ranger Standard!) Heck, Marmot even put a built in whistle into the front chest strap clip and they give you an extra strap/clip. Kinda neat! Anyways, storage below:

Storage Compartments:
Top storage
Right storage on waist belt
Back of pack storage
Inside storage for camelbak or other stuff
Inside small pocket storage stitched at top of bag that would hold a few smaller items like keys, watch, wallet and so forth.
Bottom compartment for sleeping bag.

I bought this for an extended trip in the Gore Range this past summer. I deliberately bought this somewhat smaller pack to force me to economize on what I carried. Still, I was able to go for a week with this pack in great comfort through all sorts of terrain. More than once. It held up well to very rough handling. I have since used it as a day pack by taking off the top and rolling up the bottom. Works great for that, too. Not too many frills or extras to get in your way. Strapping system was very adjustable. My new favorite pack.

This is my first backpack and I love it. It has lots of compartments, storage space, and provides great support for my back and shoulders. Looking forward to taking it on a long backpacking trip!
