Marmot Zeus Jacket,
This review is from: Marmot Zeus Jacket - Men's (Apparel)
I purchased this jacket for travel rather than hiking/camping, so read on with that caveat. My general size is a medium with a 32" sleeve; that size also fits fine with the Zeus, with enough room for a light layer underneath if needed. While it lofts very well, it doesn't make you look like a puffy Michelin Man. Although it isn't matte, it isn't terribly shiny, at least in the Twilight blue color. It has two outside zipped pockets and two deep unzipped storage pockets inside. The collar is a little high, but I don't find it to be a problem. I travel to Europe several times a year and on the night leg of the flight usually freeze from the overhead vents that always seem to be on full blast near me. I chill easily, so this jacket is a handy companion with variable cool weather as well. It weighs virtually nothing and can be compressed to a small, light size that's easy on the carry on space, and in a pinch can be used as a pillow. Marmot states that it can be compressed into its own pocket, but that point seems to elude me and I simply roll it into a tight cylinder that will fit into a nylon mesh bag. It's made of a silky feeling material that is very comfortable, but some care would be needed for outside activities to prevent rips from branches and the like. I don't know how it would fare in the rain since I use a light shell for that purpose, although it should be OK for light duty. It has a very high fill power down and light covering, so although the weight is reduced, it is very effective; to me it's much warmer and lighter than the fleece it's replacing. Less expensive jackets can easily be found, but for the meticulous attention to detail and quality, this is money well spent. I have a Marmot rain shell and, for the have found it to be equally well constructed, light weight and useful. Dry cleaning is NOT recommended since that damages the delicate down's lofting ability; hand washing with the appropriate cleaning material is suggested.
I just weighed it on the digital office scale and it weighs 15.1 ounces fully lofted.

Best winter coat I have owned,
By
This review is from: Marmot Zeus Jacket - Men's (Apparel)
I have had this coat a few days now and I cannot say enough good things about it. I'm used to a winter coat weighing a ton in order to keep me warm in sub-freezing temperatures. I am a bigger guy (6'1" and 230lbs) and the XL is plenty big for me. The articulation in the arms is more than enough to keep the sleeves from moving up my arms almost regardless of how I move. The coat is plenty long to cover my entire torso and then some except when I reach up all the way over my head. Because of my height, the coat does come up a little on my torso when I reach straight up but for normal movements it is excellent.
It has been single digit lows at night and 20-30 degrees during the day here since I got this coat and I have not been cold at all when wearing this. I usually run pretty warm but I have not been overheated at all when wearing this coat. Even when going from outside to walking around heated stores, unzipping the coat has been enough to keep me from overheating. That is surprising to me since the coat is so warm in the cold outside temperatures. I'm a volunteer with my local Search and Rescue team and cannot wait to get this out in some extreme conditions and see how well it keeps me warm when outside for extended periods. I have the feeling it will do excellently. If it does not, I will be revising this review accordingly.

Great backcountry coat!,
This review is from: Marmot Zeus Jacket - Men's (Apparel)
I have a 38" chest, 5'-11" @140 lbs. and bought a medium expecting to wear a pile coat underneath in below zero F weather. Even though I can fit a 300 wt pile jacket underneath comfortably, this still fits fine with just a thin base layer only.
I have used this with only a thin polyester turtleneck in breezy 20 F conditions for extended periods and stayed very comfortable. The arms, for me, do allow over the head reaching without the hem riding up, and the bottom hem falls just below the hip bones. I have a 15" neck and the collar fits me just about perfect (though a bit snug with that 300 wt. pile zipped completly up). The wrists on this coat are elastic with no adjustment and are adequete. Elastic hem with pocket adjustment cords. Two outside zip pockets and two non-zip interior pockets that'll hold a small water bottle or food if you need to. The main zipper is not very big or heavy but seems to be OK. All other aspects regarding quality are top notch. It packs down pretty small and supposedly will fit into one of the zip pockets, though for backcountry excursions I like to use a small stuff sack. When compared to other 800 fill lightwieght jackets of other companies, I beleive this coat gives the best value for the price.

Marmot Zeus Jacket,

Got one just in time for the Winter freeze. I love Marmot stuff because their cut fits me just right. This down jacket is unbelievably light and unbelievably warm. I didn't think that it'd be that warm but I was able to wear just this and a long sleeved T-shirt in 30 degree weather comfortably in an urban setting.
And the weight is why I pick this one to go out most of the time, it's just so light and feathery. And I haven't ever felt cold while wearing this outside. So far, I do not have any negatives about this jacket.

I bought this jacket for my husband. He loves it. He is 5'10", 165 pounds. The medium is perfect. The coat is warm yet very lightweight. The fit is trim and flattering. We were tired of him looking like the Michelin man in his old down jacket. One of the nicest features of the Zeus jacket, other than its great profile, is that it is compressible. It will pack in its own pocket, squishes flat in a suitcase or can fit under a raincoat when it is 34 degrees and raining (and we've been to a lot of cold, rainy football games this year). We highly recommend it. As a matter of fact, we like it so much we bought one for our 2 sons and our son in law for Christmas.

To be honest, i wasn't expecting this jacket to be this light and warm!
The exterior too feels very soft, so much so that I felt it may tear at anytime, which of course is not the case. If you're looking for a warm, comfortable and light jacket, look no further.

I moved from the coast to the midlands. It's regularly sub zero at night. My Zeus is my friend! I bought the green one, which is sharp looking but fades in the sunlight as the others do I assume. I love the coat. Blue and Green are my favorite, however, I think the black one is nice and the gray one will probably look fresh longest.

Marmot Zues Jacket Men's XXL,

This review is from: Marmot Zeus Jacket - Men's (Apparel)
My wife purchased this jacket for me as an early Christmas present. She purchased this jacket because a few weeks earlier we went to REI in Concord, CA and this was the one that I tried on and liked.
I am 6'6 250lbs and the XXL fits nicely. The jackets sleeve are spot on in length. I chose black as my color and it looks sharp. This jacket is not very puffy but is lightweight and keeps you warm. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for a very warm, light weight, and compressible jacket. Hands down this jacket is Tops!

As with every Marmot product I have owned, and I have had several, this product is excellent in every respect. The product is not too hot, nor too light. I would say you could wear it from 60 degrees down to about 25, making it very versatile. Just don't use it in the desert, like I did. Because of the thin nylon shell, if you brush up against any cacti, you may end up with lots of cactus thorns embedded in it, like I did. Other than that love this product.
