Though Davenport makes some forays into blue-eyed soul and pastel funk, this is basically a top-notch, low-fi, acoustic affair with pretty vocal overdubs. The odd synthetic fill and electronic pulse keep it from sounding entirely like a record that dates to Northern California in the mid sixties. Zach Braff will be wanting these songs for his next film soundtrack.

I loved, adored, cherished the Loved Ones. Couldn't get enough of them. Went to as many of their SF shows as I could in the early 90's. Was listening to the Price For Love the other day and it nearly brought tears to my eyes thinking that there would never ever be any more Loved Ones. So, I did what any dedicated girl would do...I looked up Bart Davenport. Got so bloody excited about this cd. And really, I should have just left well enough alone. Best of luck to you, Bart. I hope you find your way back to the good stuff. (I'm giving you 5 stars anyway...for sentimental reasons.)
