Greatest modern jazz piano CD!, April 11, 2002

Geri Allen is one of a select group of musicians in the last 20 yrs to add substantially to the jazz piano community. Displaying substantial influence from such players like Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner, she nevertheless has her own unique style. She is a mature player, constantly pushing the envelope.
Here she is in fine form on perhaps her greatest recording. With a group of all-stars, she redefines the role of the piano in such an ensemble. The CD also features her amazing compositional and improvisational abilities. A must buy for anyone interested in how jazz continues to push the musical envelope!!!
