Editorial Reviews

Product Description
On this album, recorded live at London's Marquee in 1962 and released on Decca's Ace Of Clubs label the same year, Korner is joined by Long John Baldry who shares the vocal honors with Cyril Davies, pianist Keith Scott, future Johnny Dankworth bassist Spike Heatley, drummer Graham Burbridge, former mainstay of Chris barber's rhythm section, and the ubiquitous Dick Heckstall-Smith, later to team up with John Mayall prior to joining Colosseum, wailing away on sax. Radioactive. 2004. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BRITISH BLUES OOP CD REISSUED BY MFSL. GET IT ASAP!, December 20, 2002
By Jay Siekierski (STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. USA) - See all my reviews
Finally this masterpiece has seen a U.S. release! I'm talkin' 'bout the first runner on the British Blues boom scene Alexis
Korner and his band Blues Incorporated incredible LP of classic killer Blues R&B From The Marquee originally issued in
Britain in '62. This CD is a Mofi gold exclusive and man, did they pick the right title for release! I bought this recording on LP
in England in the mid '80s and have cherished it still to this day. Thank god it's now on CD and from Mofi! The biggest thrill is
to find that Mofi included one additional bonus cut Howlin' Wolf's "I'm Built For Comfort", and it knocks your socks off! Cyril
Davies add's the real thing on Bluesy harmonica and vocals while longtime British Blues legend Long John Baldry highlights
three tunes with his vocals. Of strong interest to any John Mayall fan, we got Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax. Checkout an early
Dick winging it out! And of course all this would not have been possible if not for the late Alexis Korner, a true pioneer and
leader of British Blues. Oh, about the job Mofi did... For a Mono recording it shakes and sounds as though you're in a real
smokey Blues-Jazz club anywhere in the world! This is as real as it's gonna get, so get this CD now and dig it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure is a gold disc, October 30, 1998
By A Customer
You can't get any more vintage than this mean mother; it's AK with Cyril Davies, Dick Heckstall Smith and Long John Baldry. If you need to replace that old Ace of Clubs l.p., this sure sounds fine (although the plain silver disc version of this disc has some bonus tracks) and it certainly is a brightly coloured gold.

1.0 out of 5 stars ZZZZZZZZZZZZ, August 9, 2006
This review is from: R&B from the Marquee (Audio CD)
The main contents are exactly the same as the previous CD issues (on Deram and Radioactive), except there are a few extra previously seen tracks and some duplication with the 2 CD anthology that has just been issued! That's not really great thinking as fans want to get good value for their hard-earned!!
