Slow to start and hard to continue,

I am only 2 or 3 chapters in and struggling to keep any interest in this story. I love dialogue. However, all I've read so far are people trapped in their own thoughts with little exchange. And the little exchange they've had so far as been the cliche' "I'm a wealthy older man fooling around with a teenager and being more her boss and superior than a man who is capable of love. And I'm a young foolish woman who submits to the wealthy billionaire." I'm going to read the rest of the bundle I bought and come back to finish this story. I hope it picks up.
PS... I guess this is the third story amongst sisters? So I know little about Ruby and so far I have not been able to find anything interesting about her to continue. FOLLOW-UP - OK, I couldn't stand all the reflecting of their misery of the past and lack of communication (ie, dialogue). So I switched to reading the first few words of each paragraph in order to finish the book. It's a book where "LOVE" comes from unwanted and uncontrolled LUST in the bedroom. Passed over those paragraphs. Somehow, and I don't know how, they LOVE each other with very little exchange over time. His realization of his LOVE for her and wrong conclusions seem to evaporate too quickly at the end. The epilogue was perhaps a nice wrap up - I didn't read the first 2 books. However, if the sisters were happily married, I don't understand why Ruby was so strapped in the beginning on the story. My mom likes this writer... but I would have to say pass on this story and most likely I will NOT read the other sisters' stories.

This was a good book to me- I like Penny jordan's work. She uses a lot of details and she makes sure that her men are nice and passionate- just the way i like them- she also writes a good story with lots of conflict- i enjoyed the book.

The last of Penny Jordan's stories on the Wareham sisters turned out to be my favorite. It combines a nice balance of romance, plot, passion and character development. Where I felt sometimes the other sisters' stories dragged a bit, this one zipped right along. She had engaging lead characters, as well as a good "supporting" cast that helped round this story out.
After reading about Ruby's "situation" in the previous two books, I was pleased to see that she owned up to past mistakes and had set out to make a good life for her and her boys, despite trying circumstances. The way Sander realizes he has children is a bit of a stretch, but somehow Ms. Jordan made it work. We get a lot of insight into what the two characters remembered about their one night together. That insight helps make more believable some of the hangups they have with each other, particularly Sander. This story touches several emotions and is worth reading again. |
