A touching drama,
By Avid Reader "sixsisters6" (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Marriage By Contract (Harlequin 36 Hours) (Paperback)
It should have been so simple. Nurse Bethany Kent wants a baby, and the abandoned newborn infant in the hospital nursery needs a mother. But nothing's simple. Not even after Bethany receives a marriage proposal from Dr. Tony Petrocelli, and everything seems like it's going to work out...Tony needs a wife, Bethany needs a husband in order to adopt the baby. She never planned to fall in love with Tony AND the baby, or for the baby's birth mother to return...
I loved this story. Bethany is warm and real, and who wouldn't fall in love with Tony and his big Italian family. A very worthwhile read.

Disappointed from Jersey,

This review is from: Marriage By Contract (Harlequin 36 Hours) (Paperback)
This book is about a women, a nurse, who falls in love with an abandoned baby. In order to adopt this baby - she needs a husband. Enter Tony, the doctor who delivers the baby. Tony IS too good to be true! The book starts out very good - and is a page-turner. Then, unfortunately, and very typically, the women changes her mind about the relationship - the day after the wedding - of course. The guy is TOO GOOD for this character. What does he even see in her? I don't like books where one character is so obviously selfish, and the other character just goes along with it. It is too unreal! I actually feel insulted. Books that carry that theme are so disappointing - because the main character is so unlikable, you have to wonder what the guy sees in the women, and why even stick around. I was truly disappointed, especially after initally thinking that this was a great book. I mean - yes - you have to have conflict, but come up with new ideas. Not the same old - same old - you can read in hundreds of other published books. |
