Once again, Anne Eames delivers her special brand of writing that is witty, fast-paced and fun. A Marriage Made in Joeville is set in the fictitious town of Joeville, Montana-- otherwise known as Joe, Montana to the locals. Here, the Malone brothers-- Ryder, Shane and Joshua-- run the Malone ranch. And it is here that Savannah Smith has come to find her high school friend Ryder Malone. Savannah isn't the same chubby, self-conscious, mousy girl she used to be. With the help of her best friend Jenny, Savannah intends to knock Ryder's socks off before revealing her true identity. When Essie (Savannah's initials are S.E.) shows up at the Malone ranch to cook, she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. But soon enough she realizes she doesn't want to leave Montana-- or the man she has always loved. Ryder hasn't changed much from the teenage boy Savannah used to know. He's still got a chip on his shoulder and his problems with his father and the past still haven't been resolved. But now Ryder has a new problem-- what to do about Billy, the little boy that has captured his heart. Essie is an added complication in Ryder's life-- a very attractive complication he just can't afford. Ms. Eames has created a host of memorable characters that readers will love. A Marriage Made in Joeville is the first in a three book series entitled The Montana Malones. Ryder is a wonderfully complex character dealing with issues of family, trust and responsibility. Savannah is every girl in high school who didn't quite fit in. Unfortunately, Savannah's character doesn't seem quite as well drawn as Ryder's. Perhaps this is because Ryder has so many aspects of his life to resolve and Savannah's main issue is getting Ryder. However, this is only a minor flaw in an otherwise charming novel with a very special story of friendship and love, as well as a fascinating subplot involving Billy and his mother. This reviewer can't wait for the next book in this promising series!Anne Eames never disappoints! A true gem in romantic fiction! A very special author destined for a long and prosperous future! Anne Eames deserves all the praise she gets! The Montana Malones promises to be a memorable series! This story was funny in places, and heart wrenching in others. I found it completely entertaining. I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with little Billy, as well as Ryder, the hero of this book. Anne Eames performs magic on her characters. She breathes life into them, you feel with them, love them, and cry for them. She is an outstanding author.
