Book Description

July 1, 2004
Marriage and Military Life is a relationship inventory designed for dating, engaged and married military couples. Numerous studies document how premarital and marital inventories help promote better marriages by helping couples identify particular strengths and weaknesses in their relationship, and by addressing differences in backgrounds, individual personality traits and expectations that may cause marital problems. Marriage and Military Life contains two detachable self-grading inventories that are identical to the statements found in the downloadable interactive computer program: The Survival Guide for Marriage in the Military. Unlike costly civilian relationship inventories that require professional administration and grading, this self-administered instrument addresses issues unique to military life (e.g., frequent long-term deployments, multiple moves, etc.). An excellent tool for young couples that wish to examine their preparedness to marry, it can! also benefit married couples that want to renew their love for one another. Couples who find themselves unable to resolve certain differences that surface in the course of discussing their responses are encouraged to order The Survival Guide for Marriage in the Military that provides confidential counseling insights on each of the statements found in the inventory.

Gene Thomas Gomulka is the author of the Marriage and Military Life inventory and the developer of two interactive computer programs, The Survival Guide for Marriage in the Military and Before Saying "I Do." These interactive tools for dating, engaged and married couples are based upon over 30 years of counseling experience and input provided by hundreds of military and civilian couples. A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA and an S.T.L. from the Angelicum University in Rome. After serving for five years as an associate pastor in State College, PA, the home of the Pennsylvania State University, he completed a 24 year military career as a Navy Chaplain. While serving as Deputy Chaplain, U.S. Marine Corps, he co-authored the core values of "Honor, Courage and Commitment" adopted by the Marine Corps and later embraced by the Navy. In 1999 the Secretary of the Navy presented him with the Navy League’s "Alfred Thayer Mahan Award" for "literary achievement and inspirational leadership." Captain Gomulka's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (three awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal and various other service and campaign medals and ribbons. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not a true book, May 13, 2007
This review is from: Marriage and Military Life (Paperback)
this product is only a 10 page introduction or table of contents for the true book that I was intending to buy. The book itself is very good. I have read it. I was intending to buy another copy when I ordered this product and was misled. This is not the book you are looking for but only a pathetic 10 page supplement.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pfft., April 8, 2007
This review is from: Marriage and Military Life (Paperback)
This isn't even a book. I got this thinking it would be a book and all it is is a test of sorts. I felt rather misled because it isn't even specified as a test. A better description could have kept me from making the mistake of buying a product like this I could have gotten from the Chapel just as easily for free.
