4.0 out of 5 stars short and sweet, March 29, 2006

Another installment in the lives of the people from Hard Luck Alaska.

This is book 2 of the series and although it stands alone as a good read - it is even better when read as a series (and in order). Charles has determined that he was going to stay single forever -- held hostage by his families past he will not allow himself to fall in love. After all look what love did to his father. Little did he know that when Lanni Caldwell walked into the picture -- his single days just wouldn't look so good. Is their hope for Charles and Lanni? -- Unfortunately Lanni has secrets of her own -- can Charles see past them or will they be the death of any type of relationship between them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, December 8, 1998

I enjoyed this saga by Debbie Macomber. This is like a 6 part story of several people in a remote part of Alaska. Basically, there are not many women to choose from in this place and some of the men devise a plan to attract more women to the area. Their plan works and the romances begin. The writing is sweet and it is nice to learn the characters and see some of the relationships continue to blossom in future books. Read this book, along with Bride for Brothers, Ending in Marraige and Falling for Him
