This excellent book is thoroughly enjoyable, easy to read, and highly educational. If you're thinking of going into business with your dearly beloved, it'll give you a much better chance of building a sustainable business, and help avoid the emotional roller-coaster stuff. Format: Paperback
With the ever-increasing flood of `self-help' and coaching books coming onto the market, specifically geared towards those who run their own businesses, I've found it essential to check the credibility of each potential `enterprise saviour' before parting with my hard-earned dollars. I don't want to see all the money I put into a book just go to line the writer's pockets and turn him/her into a `celebrity guru'. I'm more interested in investing in a book that adequately rewards the writer, but more importantly, proves over time to be of significant value to my own business and me, because of its sound content and advice!
Most of us want solid material that is credible, not just a concoction of esoteric stories that entertain, but do little to empower us towards a better business.
`Married to the Business', recently published by Dr Greg Chapman, well-known business advisor and marketing strategist, shows its credibility in a key statement Greg makes in the Postscript: "The situations within this story are based on real events ... an amalgam of many husband and wife clients from a wide range of business sectors with whom I have worked."
This series of anecdotal episodes tells stories of how a struggling but well-intentioned couple started out optimistically in business; had some success but failed to evolve into a seriously profitable entity; began to flounder and were at risk of closing down; and how with the application of some `business-savvy' experience and wisdom, were able to steer their business back to success.
It's entirely believable. Many of us will know of people with a similar story to tell, but regrettably, too many of these people fail to find an objective analyst and advisor such as Greg.

Whilst much of the information contained in this book should be common sense, common sense is so rare these days that it's almost a superpower.

Good usable advice in an easy to use format that should be suitable for business owners of all 'levels'.
