After reading, His Forbidden Fiancee (Silhouette Desire) (Luke's story), I had to read Matt's story. I found this book to be easy to read, entertaining and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more books by this talented author.

This is the fifth installment of the millionaire of the month series. Mattias is the fifth man to stay at the house in Lake Tahoe as a promise to his dead friend's wish. Before he heads out to the house, he fires his very loyal and efficient assistant Kendall. Kendall was a Stanford Graduate with aspirations of a big marketing career. She took the job as Matt's assistant as a way to get her foot on the door and learn the ropes. Matt was very dependant on her so when he found out she was quitting to go work for the competition, he lets her go. Kendall was upset how things ended, she had worked really hard for 5 years and wanted to be doing more than an assistant. Matt goes to Tahoe and finds out Kendall is up in the area training for her new job. Matt tries to get Kendall back, but she refuses. During their time in tahoe, Matt realizes that his dependency on Kendall goes beyond the office. Kendall has always admired her boss and had a little crush on him.
Fairly predictable plot, but nevertheless very quick read. The story was amusing and entertaining. Nicely done.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved reading the funny, conflicted thoughts the characters had. Many chuckles, and that really makes a story for me.

Gee that previous reviewer was harsh, and wrong. I disagree with just about everything she said. I read the book before reading her reply and quite frankly I was incensed. Thank goodness the author had the cojones to reply. Good for you Elizabeth. I totally agree, this book was wonderful, above the normal in a series. It had spunk and more to it than most. I read a lot, I mean a book a day and for one to impress me it has to be more than just ok. The hero was not a jerk, well ok he was but who could have blamed him for that. And he reformed himself at the end. His upbringing made him into what he was. He was made to go up against his brother and a twin to boot. Normally twins are made to feel close by the way they are written. Not being a twin I have to believe what I read. But it's plausible to me so I'll accept it. Being driven is not all that bad, look what all he's accomplished in his pretty young life and btw the cover model to me was not Matt. He's too old looking. The heroine was strong and driven and held her own. The man she quit her job for to work for him was the jerk. He, I could get to hate. I have not read the other books in this storyline. I'm reading the Millionaire of the Month books but this to me said, I'm part of more from this author. Yes I'll be looking for others that visit the lodge Hunter set up as a place they all had to go to discover themselves for a month. Sounds like a nice little series. I follow Ms .Bevarly's I've Got Male series and like her writing very much. Thanks for writing good stuff.

Ya know, I realize everyone is entitled to her opinion, and I totally respect that. But as the author of the book, *I* think it was pretty dang good. So I'm giving myself five stars. :o)

I really enjoyed this book like I do all Elizabeth Bevarly's books. I thought Kendall was totally appropriate for her character-smart, driven, and taking this opportunity to learn from a great businessman-a common practice in real life as well b/c I personally did it. I really enjoyed Matt's skewed respnses to the overly-qualified applicants that applied after her...hilarious. Thanks Ms Bevarly!

This book started me reading Elizabeth Bevarly books.
From the first this book captured my attention and made me laugh. I enjoyed the interplay of the characters and yes the hero was a little caricatured but that added to my delight. I thought it was brilliant and sparkling.

A jerk and an unqualified ninny fall in love,

OK, first of all, the guy in this book is a jerk. When his long-suffering assistant of several years tells him she's quitting to take a job at another company, he fires her and gives her 10 minutes to pack up her desk and then has her escorted out by security. Nice guy, huh? He's too impatient to learn how to work his PDAs, etc., so rather than ask someone, he throws them away in fits of rage. The guy is seriously immature and I wouldn't spend one second in his company. As for the heroine, she has a business degree and has spent several years as the executive assistant of Mr. Jerk. Somehow, she thinks this makes her qualified to be a VP of public relations -- despite the fact that she has no training or experience! Even more appalling, Mr. Jerk, toward the end of the book, agrees with her! She spends the entire book telling everyone who will listen that she is perfectly qualified for the job, even though she literally has no idea what it entails. Why does this author think that anyone can do PR? Does she feel that way about accounting? Medicine? Any other professional position? Probably not. So why does she feel that anyone can be a PR expert? This bugged me throughout the book, and when it was combined with how much of a jerk the "hero" is, the book was a colossal waste of time. The "heroine" is a masochist, and stupid to boot, as she leaves her orientation for said new job because the whiny jerk who had her escorted out of the building a week before calls her up with some flimsy complaint about something she did. Then, to top it off, once she realizes he lied, she still puts up with his behavior! I hated both of the main characters, and frankly, I wasn't so happy with the author after reading this pile o' crap. I'll give this author a miss in the future.

Very Disappointed,

I always eagerly await the next Elizabeth Bevarly release because I have come to expect a lot of comedy, a pretty hot romance, and a wonderful second plot with likeable characters. Unfortunately, this book doesn't qualify as much as anything beyond wasted paper. The main characters - Kendall and Matthias - are corporate tycoons who eventually end up as lovers. That is pretty obvious and not a real spoiler. But the romance was unbelievable and the two characters were not 'connected,' as you might expect romantic partners to be. It took nearly the entire book for the couple to 'get together,' and it was just ... dull and boring the whole way through. None of Beverly's trademark skills (comedy and romance) were in this book. It read more like a very short story with absolutely no plot, no character development, and just bad writing. Perhaps this book suffers from being part of a Harlequin series and not a stand-alone book?? I think Bevarly is a far better writer outside of the Harlequin books; her longer novels are so much more fun. This book was a total bore. Not recommended.
