5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!
I have read many books from Ted and Shemane, this rates right up there, if you are looking for something you can really sit down and get into, I would suggest this book. When I read this book, I felt like I must have been reading a different book than the one described in other reviews here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointing Garbage, July 22, 2003

This review is from: Married to a Rock Star (Music of the Great Lakes) (Hardcover)
I bought this book on the recommendation of Sean Hannity of Fox News' Hannity and Colmes- someone that I typically respect very much.I ... read it on my honeymoon. In a nutshell- it is mostly her going on and on about all the celebrities she and Ted hang with, all the travel they do, all the animals they like to hunt and eat, and how the majority of us are headed straight for hell. Content wise, the book is inconsistent, disappointing, and teases you into thinking it is headed towards a climax but falls short. For example, she talks about how her health failed last fall at the beginning of the book and she never comes back to explain why. She barely touches on the affair that Ted had basically saying that she was hurt but they got over it and are now much better- never really explaining, for example, HOW they got over it. As a newleywed a lot of what drew me to this book was seeing how they got over their major problems but that never happened. It does get very obnoxious also her going on and on about "Ted's strong arms" and her saying how she really didn't like going hunting in Texas for their Honeymoon but then backtracking saying "It was ok, because I was with Ted". She also talks about how awful it is that some women dress and act provocitavely and alter themselves to make themselves more appealing to men. She later mentions that she had a boob job. Pretty big hypocrite if you ask me. Long story short, I was expecting a more insightful more raw and empowering account of maintaining one's identity while being married to such a character. Instead, I found a combination trashy romance novel, political soapbox and whinefest.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book came from the HEART!, May 19, 2003

I recieved this book today from amazon.
Started to read it thinking that I would only read a couple of chapters before going to bed. Ended up that I read the entire book because it was so good and I got alot of unknown information out of it. I also had an affair on my wife many years ago. We have been married now for almost 23 years. I knew that my wife was very heart broken over the mistake that I made, but did not realy understand the pain she went through untill I read about your experience and the deep hurt that you discribed.
Very well done. best book I have read to this date. I learned alot from this book and plan to upgrade my life to a higher standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars interesting book, September 7, 2011

Never have been a big Nugent fan but attended a fun concert of his one nite and the next day it was after meeting Shemane personally through a Curves Zumba class & spending time in a small question & answer group with her I decided to order & read it. Very interesting life they have led together. Good to know they are both determined to make their marriage work and how they have dealt with and perservered through difficulties. The book is written so Shemane comes through in a genuine & honest manner, just as she is in person.

5.0 out of 5 stars TED'S GONZO-GAL PUT A STRANGLEHOLD ON THIS READER!, May 23, 2003

Hey guys/gals - Sheman Nugent deserves a medal for this one - bullseye! Great and insightful read. Not a boring page here. I have been a Ted Nugent fan for (gulp!) 20-odd years (I just cant say 30 years) and have enjoyed his raunchy-rantings, ballistic-babbling & snotty-snorting. Mrs. Nugent get us behind the spirit-of-the-wild and reveals the Nugents' quite human conflicts & their ability to resolve them through dedication, committment & love. A great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Married to a Rock Star, August 15, 2006
This review is from: Married to a Rock Star (Paperback)
Shemane's look at the backstage life, trials and tribulations of stardom is insightful and runs the gamut from joyous to sad to encouraging. Her honest writing style, with she bares her soul and lays open personal tragedy and triumph for the world to see, is gutsy but refreshing. In the end she shows us that relationships are meant to last and should light a fire under anyone who isn't trying to make the most of their own relationship.

Shemaine is very candid, yet makes it clear that rock 'n' roll marriages can work, if each partner is commited to it. Her book is not written out of the need to draw attention to her or her husband's fame, but to be a help to those who may soon face the struggles she and Ted have faced, such as infidelity and the angst of a sometimes long distance relationship. It is entertaining, yet poignant. Highly recommended for both rock stars and just us normal folks who are trying to make a marriage work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hard to put down story., May 17, 2003

This review is from: Married to a Rock Star (Music of the Great Lakes) (Hardcover)
I started reading this book 2 days ago and am almost done. Shemane dosen't hold back on how or what she feels. It's a must read for anyone that has dreamed about what it would be like being married to a rock star. The trials and tribulations a married couple go through, and how they are conquered are a main focus. This book was written by a very classy woman that has learned to deal with lifes up's & down's and insecurities. I can hardly wait for her to write another chapter after reading the last. A must read whether you agree or disagree with Ted Nugent.

Muriel and I must have read different books. I read the book from cover to cover last night and what I got from it was, indeed, the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of a young woman who married into a lifestyle that she was not prepared for. Shemane carried us through 14 yrs. of love, insecurity, adversity, and more love than most ever have in a lifetime. She showed us that the rich and famous have the same roadblocks in life that the rest of us do. And most of all, she showed us that true love, inner strength, and commitment CAN move mountains!

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Crap, September 1, 2010
This review is from: Married to a Rock Star (Paperback)
Lame. She repeats the phrases "My husband, my hubby, and Motor City Madman" hundreds of times and makes sure that we know she is a rock star's wife. She keeps trying to convince us that they are still happily married after Ted's affair, and she never fails to remind the reader of what an amazing, talented, athletic, brilliant, well-versed, (did she say amazing 300 times?) man she is married to. She criticizes Van Halen's contract clause about no brown M & M's in their dressing room, which they did to make sure their contracts were being read, but tells the reader repeatedly how many people stole from The Nuge (her phrase, not mine). She just has to bring up that Gene Simmons had different girlfriends on the road during his marriage. Why are you telling us this, to justify what your husband did? The more she talked about how happy they are (which is the entire book), the less I believed it. Disappointing and annoying, don't waste your time.
