There are lots of other characters for us to love.

Better character development, better plot details, and edit out the written lisp dialogue.

The hero is entirely too suspicious but at least I understood his reasoning.

I really enjoy Teresa McCarthy books; I've read all four and hope she writes a lot more. To Marry a Marquess was a fun treat. I just thought it was lighthearted fun. Drake and Victoria were likable characters. They meet under unusual circumstances and while instantly attracted to one another it takes them quite awhile to own up to their growing feelings. Drake once thought he married for love and vows never to make that mistake again. He married a "pauper" and ends up in a miserable match. Not only does she spend his money, has numerous affairs, she also neglects him and their daughter. Drake has built up some thick walls and has some trust issues where women are concerned. Victoria likewise has trust issues where men are concerned and has a hard time coming to trust Drake. I don't really blame her, at times he is a bit aggressive and if he'd have been a little more patient she probably would have opened up to him. I enjoyed their story though and overall thought it was a fun read.

This book has a totally unconvincing plot and unbelievable characters who are constantly changing their attitudes and opinions about each other. I forced myself to finish it, since I had paid for it, and then put it in file 13.

The Characterization was a little weak, but I still liked the characters. The kid was cute and engaged in some entertaining antics. The hero was romantic, appropiatly smitten with the heroine, and his responsible behavior towards the heroine was commendable. Some of the plot elements were a little far fetched, but I liked the romance and adventure. This book was not perfect but I did like it.

Too many threads that simply did not make sense. The characters' motivations and behavior had no sense of any reality whatsoever. Yes, I know romance books are generally light reading, but this was just silly. Don't think I will choose this author again any day soon.

This isn't a bad read; the author is reasonably skilled. But the hero's refusing to marry a pauper because a previous wife hurt his feelings simply doesn't ring true to me. Nor does the heroine's refusal to warn her family that they might be in danger. That said, it's not too bad a way to while a way a few hours.

Leading lady is a weak powder puff; leading man is an unintelligent brute; & the storyline is extremely choppy & weak! Waste of time & money.

I don't know what it is about Regency romances that keeps me coming back, but this one sure has all the elements right. Damsel in reduced circumstances? Check. Rakish son/brother/nephew in need of a "good woman" to "fix" his faults? check. Overbearing Aunt/mother/older sister/grandmother? Check.
Seriously, this is a very nice Regency novel, even if some of the characters are a bit cliched. There are lots of other characters for us to love. There's even a little heartbreaker who just needs a new daddy. (Say it with me now, "Awwwwww.")
It is a good book to pass a couple of hours away with.
