By A Customer
This review is from: The Marrying Kind (The Marrying Kind Series #1) (Love Inspired #135) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Marrying Kind, by Cynthia Rutledge, is a great read for anyone who enjoys inspirational romances. If you enjoy reading romances, but don't want to read a novel filled with foul language or explicit sex than this book is perfect for you. Readers watch Taylor Rollins, a young women struggling to maintain her father's reputation after his death, as she falls in love with her handsome employer Nick Lanagan whose last desire is to get married. The book is funny , heartwarming, and sprinkled with inspirational truths that remind you that honesty is always the best policy, and that relationships with God and Family are more important than business.

I really enjoyed this book, it was hard to put done. It was a very romantic, lovely story. I agree with the other reviewer. It's nice to see a book without sex. This is a clean and sweet story. I highly recommend it.

Interesting, January 29, 2012
First of all, I must say that I did enjoy this book very much. It was very entertaining to watch Nick and Taylor fall in love while pretending to be in love. The author kept me reading. I enjoyed the story...
BUT...
I could not give this book five stars. I gave it four simply because it was an entertaining read, but there are some things in the book that are rather questionable:
1. The presence of God and salvation are questionable. It doesn't seem that God and church are really that important, and I never saw that Nick actually became a question...
2. Alcohol was used in this. Nobody stayed away from the stuff, and Taylor herself became tipsy, if not drunk, one night.
3. Premarital sex was embraced in this story. Nick, being a man of the world, tried to get Taylor in bed on at least two different occasions. He even knew they were going to be breaking up soon. This made Nick look like a sleezeball. Taylor tried to tell him she wasn't leading him on, but with the kisses she allowed him to give her, I'm not sure...And then when Taylor was "drunk," she could have easily given in to his please for sex, but Nick wouldn't because of the state she was in...
4. The author used the word "curse" thought the book. Sometimes it was because Nick was actually cursing.
5. Nick and Taylor both lied to their spiritual leader during marriage counseling. They lied on the questioners. I believe they should have admitted the truth to the preacher before the wedding and redo the marriage classes..
These three above things keep me from recommending this to anybody under eighteen. I also thought I should warn those who do not want to read these things in a book. Even with these things, the book is very entertaining and everything turns out okay in the end...
An Inspirational read should have a spiritual message in it and leave you with food for thought. This book did not live up tot he "Love Inspired" line. It was more like a regular Harlequin read without the bedroom scene...The 'romantic' scenes were very sensual...
