5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS BOOK!!
I love this book! It deals with how cruel children can be when they are part of the "in" group as opposed to the "out" group. It alsos shows that no matter how bad someone may look, it doesn't determine the size of their heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars great book, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Marrying Malcolm Murgatroyd (Sunburst Book) (Paperback)
Marrying Malcolm (by- Mesme Farrel)

This book is about the popular girl Hannah Billings. She is just the girl who wants to be liked and popular everything that Malcolm Murgatroyd is not. He is basically a person who does not fit in. He is bad at sports, carries around a stuffed- animal, and many embarrassing things. But Hanna's parents, and his parents have been friends like forever, and Hannah has grown up with Malcolm, but no one else knows this. This is her secret, and she tries to keep it while writing her autobiography, but of course this is hard. Hannah has a brother named Ian, and he has Muscular Dystrophy, and he is in a wheel-chair. The condition is a big struggle for her to face, but Malcolm always makes Ian feel better. Malcolm just is different, he is special. Hannah has to choose to be popular or to do what is right, and to deal with (what her parents have planned) marrying Malcolm Murgatroyd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Taylor loves It!!!, October 26, 2005
A Kid's Review
Marrying Malcom Mugatroyd is a fiction novel written by Mame Farrell. Once I started reading, I got hooked. It's about a sweet, young girl, named Hannah, and basically her life. It's a must read book.

Hannah is a 6th grade girl trying to fit in. She is embarresed of the fact that her family is best friends with the school nerd, Malcom. She is acually promised to him!!! He is teased and made fun of almost every day by almost every body. She finds her self sticking up for him because of the fact that he is her brother's, Ian, best and only friend. Ian has a tough life because of his muscular dystrophy. Which means he rolls around his his wheel chair. Hannah goes through some hard and some funny times. Including her first boy-girl party, Ian being rushed to the hospital, holding hands with her dream boy, plus all the normal things teenagers worry about. She just hopes nobody finds out about her secret and embarresing life with Malcom.

Even though it's a fiction book, I could easily relate to it. The characters were all very well known and very beilievable.

This story is a funny, make you smile, make you cry kind of book. Even her friends admit that "Hannah is just a nice person." I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murgatroyd is Marvelous, March 11, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Marrying Malcolm Murgatroyd (Sunburst Book) (Paperback)
Malcolm Murgatroyd is a geek. Hannah is friends with Malcolm and she is a cool girl. Hannah doesn't want anyone to know that Malcolm's mom and dad and her mom and dad are friends. She makes Malcolm swear that he won't tell anyone that they are friends too because she wants to keep up her cool act with her school friends. Hannah has a brother named Ian who has Muscular Dystrophy. Malcolm is the only one that can make Ian laugh. Hannah's mom and dad constantly tell her that one day she'll marry someone like Malcolm which drives Hannah crazy. Will Hannah decide that Malcolm is A-OK or keep up the secret friendship with him? Read the book and find out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Handling Peer Pressure, November 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Marrying Malcolm Murgatroyd (Sunburst Book) (Paperback)
Our mother-daughter book club read this book when the girls were in 4th grade. The girls said this was one of the best books we had read because this was what "it really felt like" for them in school. They felt it accurately portrayed how kids treat the "nerds" or kids who are different in school and how hard it is to stick up for those being picked on for fear of getting the same treatment done to you. It is a great discussion book for schools, parents and kids, etc. I was really surprised when my daughter said that she would have done exactly what Hannah did at the party because it's too hard to go against the crowd. It led to a wonderful learning opportunity. She then suggested to her teacher that they read it in school because her class was dealing with a similar incident.

Hannah is a girl who is one of the cool kids in school, and she dosen't want her friends to find out that her mom and dad are friends with the parents of the geeky nerd Malcolm Murgatroyd, and that malcolm is best friends with her brother Ian who has m.d.jenny.mallet.She also has dreaded the day of her parents saying she is going to marry him. Hannah is up to a struggle so that none of this is found out.She is also guilty that she keeps using Ian's wheelchair as an excuse like when she was at the mjall with her brother and her mom and they saw Malcolm so they asked him if he wanted a ride home well Hannah didn't want ay of her frieands to see her with him so she went to the bathroom and she saw her friend and she asked if she could have a ride home but she used an excuse about the wheelchair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Any kid 10 or older should read this book., October 4, 1999

I really loved this book because it has facts that you could compare to your own life and is very realistic. It's about a popular gil named Hannah who has a brother with MD (Muscular Distrophy) who's name is Ian. A boy named Malcom is in the 6th grade nerd and he grew up with Hannah and makes Ian always feel better. Hannah feels it's her job to stick up for Malcom but one time she dosen't and feels crummy about it. In the end Hannah finds out who her real friends are and that she should be proud of her own life and shouldn't try to hide it.
