5.0 out of 5 stars Super!
I love this series. From the moment I read it at the library, I was in awe. Definately check it out if you like shoujou romance stories ^_^

2.0 out of 5 stars there's better things to read...
I'd never heard of this before I picked it up. The first thing that I really noticed was the artwork - the people in this have the biggest eyes I have ever seen in anything, manga or anime. Even the main "heart throb" character has large eyes, framed by eyelashes that would make most girls jealous. I decided to ignore all that and give this a try anyway. I almost...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Drama for Feelings, August 3, 2002

This review is from: Mars #2 (Paperback)
This manga is one of the best serieses out there. It has the essential element of a teen soap opera without the completely unrealistic elements. It centers around two teenagers, Kira, 16, and Rei, 17, who meet and for some reason are drawn irrevocably to one another even though they seem like complete opposites. Rei is a motorcycle racer with a wealthy background, and Kira is a poor, but extremely talented artist that feels withdrawn from the world. Both see and bring out in one another what no one else is able to see. This volume picks up when they truely begin forming a relationship with one another and we begin to see a bit of Rei's past. It is a truely heart-wrenching and absorbing story that I consider the best shoujo teen Graphic Novel in circulation in the U.S. right now beside Paradise Kiss. I hope that anyone will find as much pleasure with this title as I continue to.

5.0 out of 5 stars ::..An angst-filled romance of dramatic proportions..::, July 7, 2002

MARS, the manga series by Fuyumi Soryo, is quite possibly one of the best series I have ever read. The two main characters are Rei Kashino, a rebellious biker who wears his delinquency like a badge, and Kira Aso, a shy, guy-phobic artist. The two have a chance meeting one day in the park, when Rei asks Kira where the medical center is. Having recognized him, she draws him a map, and runs in the opposite direction. Their relationship starts and blossoms from there, but with unfortunate interruptions. I highly recommend these books to anyone who would enjoy a romantic but saddening storyline and great art.

5.0 out of 5 stars A BLAST!, July 2, 2002

When I started reading the first in this series I thought it was going to be your typical girl falls for bad-boy routine. I couldn't have been more wrong. There is so much more to this series. So much more that I have to read the second one a couple of times over again to make sure that I got everything. This is one of my fave mangas. You should not pass this up.

I almost didn't finish it, because I couldn't understand what Kira (a shy student who's good at art) could possibly see in Rei (the heart throb I mentioned). Granted, this is the first book in this series that I've read, but it's only book two, so you'd think there'd still be redeeming bits of his character showing through. Instead, he spends much of the book either not caring about anything or beating people up. I might keep up with this series, just because there were hints that Rei was going to change, but so far it doesn't look too promising.
