This story is very addictive.....I just can't put it down...If you like shojo(girls manga) then you have to get this serise. It's not the kind of manga that you can just start in the middle, try the first book first. they all connect.
Plus the artwork is fablous......There may not be much backround, but the facial experssions are the best I have seen.

I first discovered Mars when I was fifteen years old. I rarely read much manga, but I prized good story telling. I was interested initially because the main character Kira was an artist. I was a young artist myself, so it was that aspect that intrigued me. Anyone looking for an amazing story of two lovers against the world with their personal demons, with such realism and emotion--needs to look no further.
The first thing a story needs is lovable characters--which it has in the two main characters.
Rei--a bad boy, with a very jaded-seeming view of the world, isn't as he first appears to be. He's not your typical playboy. Rei has a passion for racing dirt bikes and courting danger. Because of his own past full of tragedy, he has a fascination for death. He expresses this within the first few pages.
Kira--the shy, timid, artist who keeps to herself and doesn't seem to want any human contact, is a figure known at her school. She has the reputation of 'hating men.' The outside world doesn't understand much of her. She may be meek and timid, but she's got a lot of heart.
In this story these two characters who are from two different worlds, with dark pasts and uneasy lives, are drawn together.
This unlikely couple stir up the school with gossip and Kira is subject to bullying because of it.
I really like how the 'villian' of that arc, doesn't stay one-dimensional.
If you want a breathtaking romance, action and psychological intrigue. I would recommend this story! I feel like if it was a real novel it would be taken seriously. It really is amazing. You don't have to be a girl to like it either. This book is sexless. It may be classified as a shoujo--I don't know if it is.

Product was labeled as new, but there are spots of missing color on the cover art and other damage along the edges. Since it was pretty cheap I'll just keep it but it shouldn't have been labeled as new.

I just love MARS. Fantastic manga, each and every one! Some might think this is a bit slow, but it's nice and realistic to see Rei and Kira struggle in their relationship.
