Product Description

Size: 30-Blade

Mars Coat King Stripping Combs is an essential tool for stripping and detangling coats as well as breaking up mats in one easy step. This premium quality stripping comb features sharp, stainless steel teeth twice as wide as Mars Coat King's standard combs and a durable, contoured wooden handle that provides a comfortable grip. Other features include:

Full tang construction, meaning the set of thirty, stainless steel blades extends into the ergonomic wooden handle for added durability
Works in all different types of fur pet coats, regardless of the dog's breed, size, or age
Recommended by professional groomers and dog handlers

The Mars Coat King Stripping Comb is the perfect tool for breaking up matted fur in a short amount of time. The stainless steel teeth easily remove loose, shedding hair from thick undercoats without painfully pulling or damaging your dog's sensitive. Unlike clipping which can leave a dog looking pitifully shorn, this comb only removes the dead hair from the coat which potentially cuts grooming time in half or quicker. The fine-sized Double Wide Mars Coat King Stripping Rake features thirty stainless steel blades and has the same spacing as the Original Mars Coat King 20 blade stripping comb. It is most effective when used on dog breeds with stock and long hair for preparing grooming jobs, and is mostly used for faster body work and larger breeds. List of breeds include:

Newfoundland, Giant Schnauzer, Terriers, Wolfhounds, Collies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Terriers, Basset hounds, Belgian Malinois, Great Pyrenees, Afghans, Boxers, Spaniels (upper body), Saint Bernards, and similar coated dog breeds.

When my 165 pound Newfie starts to blow her winter coat, there is nothing like the 18 blade coat king to help get rid of that undercoat. No snagging and she seems to like the massage she gets when I comb that inner coat out of her. Works great.

Quite impressed and worth the investment. It feels much gentler then the furminator, works better, & our dog is much happier being groomed with this stripping comb. Also, the stripped hair comes off more compacted & less fly away then with the furminator. We (people & dog) are very, very happy with this product.

I recently purchased the Mars Coat King Double wide stripping comb 18 blade for my Golden Retriever. (I now see the fine would have been better) We stripped a full grocery plastic grocery bag full of hair out of our 11 month old golden! He loves this rake, we spent a good half hour in lying in the sun with no qualms. I'll take this hands down over the FURminator!

I acquired the comb seeking an alternative to the hand stripping required for my border terrier (or at least something easier for me to do). The brush is amazing in its ability to remove the "loose" coat of my border terrier. While it doesn't do the entire job, i.e. as compared to what a groomer might accomplish, it is a wonderful start with great results. The recommended size brush for the border terrier was not readily available, so I purchased the wider version - that was the recommended size for a lab (which I also have), and the comb spacing was the same as that for the border terrier comb. The brush worked equally as well with my lab and removing the excess winter coat, and similarly on a friend's Border collie mix. After some time combing the three dogs, the clumps of hair around us in the yard looked as though we were being invaded by huge caterpillars! I have had dogs for many (over 50 years) and am wonderfully pleased with this product and would strongly recommend it.

I have a Newfoundland dog so I've got to be on top of the grooming part of his life to avoid icky hair mats. I had a matting brush, or dematting brush, and that has worked well, but I was looking for something that would help bring out the dead undercoat a little better. Almost like a comb like brush with close blades. I tried to research this product to see if that was what I was looking for and after reading a few reviews, I felt like it was worth an investment to see. I tried it and I went a little too far and thinned out his hind quarters a little too much. I guess I didn't fully realize that this actually shears the fur. I read it in a review but my brain obviously didn't process that for some reason. So I put it on the shelf and haven't used it since because I don't want to thin his hair as much as I did. If that's what I was going for then this tool would be great. I think part of my problem with this tool is that I don't fully understand how to use it. I tried watching a few instructional videos on it but still can't seem to use it safely without removing too much hair. I suppose this product would be amazing and helpful to someone who knows how to use it or needs to thin lots of hair on their animal, but it's just not what I was hoping for. For now I will be sticking to my dematting brush which does the basic things I need it to.

This brush is amazing. BUT...you need to know that it is not just removing loose hair, it is definitely cutting hair and thinning it. At first I didn't believe it was cutting, there are no sharp edges, so I tried it one small pass on one of my kids and got a clump of hair. (My kids don't shed.)

If I had known it was cutting, I probably would not have bought it. Ignorance is bliss; I'm glad I didn't know. Great tool. Great design.

Twice the amount of dead hair is removed and the dogs look great! I have the 12 blade but prefer this one for body work.

It does the job I was looking for. It seems to take just enough undercoat, so that makes it less scary to use.
