Product Description

Maltesers are a spherical malt honeycomb centre, surrounded by milk chocolate. They are most popular in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Japan. Maltesers' are 'the lighter way to enjoy chocolate'. Maltesers, originally known as Energy Balls, were invented by Forrest Mars Sr. in 1936. The current name is a portmanteau of the words "malt" and "teasers". Despite the spelling, there is no connection with the nation of Malta or Maltese people. The mystery of how the chocolate covers the porous biscuit centre is a closely guarded secret.

I love them! They're crunchy on the inside and smooth and creamy on the outside. They're basically biscuit (malt) balls covered in chocolate. We have a weak imitation over here (Whoppers), Maltesers are much better, I think the chocolate is a better quality, or just smoother and creamier. Actually, I don't know if Whoppers or Maltesers came first, but I definitely prefer Maltesers.

Get the 5 pack, in fact I once bought a 25 pack box and hid it from my wife. It lasted me one week and I had to see Dr. Johns, DDS soon after that.

Edit: May 2015. I just received my 5 pack from England have discovered that you probably shouldn't order this product during warm weather. Everything I get from the postal truck is pretty warm and this was no exception. I could feel that the Malteser balls were melted inside so I put this into a cool cabinet. I opened my first bag and though the chocolate had solidified it works even better after I put the remaining bags in the fridge.

BEWARE! These are highly addictive! I became obsessed with them on a trip to Scotland. The chocolate is wonderful- not that waxy coating you'd find on US malted milk balls. It is real, sweet, creamy chocolate, and the malted milk centers are to die for!

I grew up eating these yummy chocolate malt balls in Hong Kong. The chocolate is rich and creamy while the honeycomb malt center is so crisp! I love them! I tried the Whoppers and they were no comparison to the Maltesers. Too bad they're so hard to find and sold out here on Amazon. My local Cost Plus World Market carries them.

it's been a while since i last had Maltesers. it becomes hard to find in the market. Everytime i eat Whoppers it always remind me of how better the Maltesers are... sad it's rare. until it pops in my mind i should go look in Amazon and alas found it! every person's taste is different but for me this is the best chocolate malt... the center feels like it melts away. chocolate lovers should give this a try.

Go ahead and forget everything you think you know about the delicacy known as chocolate covered maltballs. Now try these -> Mars Maltesers chocolate coated pieces

These little jewels are made by the same company, MARS, but they are from a different manufacturing plant in the UK. The chocolate is rich and creamy, the malt center is crisp, crunchy, and clean. The entire experience is different than what we have in the US known as "Whoppers" and some lesser known regional brands.

But be careful; once I tried Maltesers, I cannot put what I had grown to know and love in my mouth anymore. I'm scouring the web for these babies and I found them here on Amazon. Lucky for me they come in multipacks! Mars Maltesers 37g x 5 Pack

Enjoy
