5.0 out of 5 stars The Mars Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets
I loved this book. It's a great icebreaker -- fun and great for parties. I've got other Birthdate and astrological characteristics books, but this one is the most fun. The Perrys' wit is tongue-in-cheek and I can tell they're just the kind of people I'd like to invite to a dinner party. I'll be looking forward to their next endeavor.

3.0 out of 5 stars traditional astrological cookbook
This book is about the positions of mars and venus in the natal chart. You know how this goes: venus in taurus with mars in pisces etc... I was somehow disappointed because I missed some innovative interpretations. This is one of these books you will read and that will leave you hungry if you are more than an intermediate astrologer. This book is only for beginners.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but don't regard it as your bible of companionship, February 2, 2002

This review is from: The Mars/Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets (Paperback)
I found that though this book offered some cute lighthearted insights to relationship astrology, they missed the boat on facts and truly diagnosing a relationship's merit with astrology. There is no mention of the idea that aspects or other parts of the couple's charts will have any importance in the relationship chart, which is simply not true.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining!, August 21, 2000

This review is from: The Mars/Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets (Paperback)
I think The Mars Venus Affair is a really fun book. I don't know much about astrology but you really don't need to in order to enjoy this book. It's written in plain language and tells you which Mars-Venus combination you have and how it can influence your sex life. It was fun to read the celebrity biographies that describe each of the 144 categories. There were several celebrities I already knew something about, like Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo, and there were others I hadn't heard of. But they were all very interesting. It's kind of neat thinking you have the same combination of Mars and Venus as Marilyn Monroe or Greta Garbo.

As much as I enjoyed this book at home, the real fun started when I took it to work and it got passed around the office. It really got people talking and giggling. It's probably a good book to have at a party to break the ice, or maybe for a bridal shower.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's not to like?, January 6, 2005

Kaos (Land of Leaping Salmon & Dancing Shaman) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Mars/Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets (Paperback)
If you're a novice, it's always helpful to see how planets combine--after all, that's the trickiest part of astrology. If you're at an advanced level (I've been at this for over 30 years), it's good to see another perspective. This type of book, by putting two planets together in interpretation, is much more accurate, and great fun at parties, especially, as here, when considering the planets of love and sex. Everyone will be greatly entertained as each person is "nailed". It's a good way to not only entertain, but to get others' interested/intrigued about astrology. Also, try Carolyn Reynold's *The Book of Lovers* for Sun/Moon combinations, which also considers gender. Very lively.

3.0 out of 5 stars sexual meanings of planets, December 2, 2001
This review is from: The Mars/Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets (Paperback)
This book explains 144 patterns of Mars/Venus combination in each sign. The focus is on their sexual implication. Their interpretation is quite detailed and each pattern is supported by a case study of celebrity's experience. Hence, I think that this book can be of great use, if you are interested in the sexual meanings of planets, which are usually overpassed in other astrological books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why is this listed under astronomy?, August 11, 2000
This review is from: The Mars/Venus Affair: Astrology's Sexiest Planets (Paperback)
Why is this book listed under astronomy/Mars?

This is a book about as-trol-o-gy (a made up subject with no basis in reality) not as-tron-o-my (about reality).

If you're into astrology--fine. But if you're interested in astronomy, don't spend your money on this one!
