5.0 out of 5 stars Hip R&B sounds from start to finish
I recently purchased this CD after seeing and listening to the music video "After Party" on the BET channel. "After Party" is really catchy single, much like "Too Close" from Next. Unlike many artists that merely have one good song on an album, this CD has it all and is one that you won't regret buying. It has a smooth, hip beat and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good summer album
Okay, so it has little substance, but "Mars/Venus" by Koffee Brown is a lot of fun to listen to, and definitely geared toward a summer car ride, or a party. Though the references to diamonds on the wrist, deep-dish rims, timbs, booties and the like get old, they embodie the spirit of today's pop and R&B music and all of its excess. Though they are just average as vocalists, the production is sharp enough to make the total package an engaging listen. Though "Afterparty" clearly is the standout, tracks such as "Weekend Thing" and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" are well-performed. Though it's not quite a blockbuster, there is enough good feeling and vibrancy to make this a decent album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun in a ghetto sort of way, March 7, 2001

When i heard After Party on the radio, I knew that song was going to be big, and I had pretty high expectations for the album from Koffe Brown. I can say that I pretty much am satisfied with what I have heard. Having a male/female duo on every song is a unique twist to the ghetto love r&b genre, and most of the songs use that gimmick pretty effectively, such as Chick on da Side and Fingerpointing. Some of the lyrics to the songs made me think of a Jenny Jones or Ricki Lake episode, however. Be in the mood for "ghetto hymns" or you may be disappointed. If you are looking for a fun cd that you can jam to and laugh at simultaneously, this may be the one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slammin, July 1, 2002

When I first hear the song AFTER PARTY I liked it, but I didn't run out and by the Koffee Brown CD. Then I checked out the CD one day and really liked what I heard. Vee and Fonz sound great together although for the longest time I couldn't figure who the 2 voices on all the tracks were. It's great cruisin in the car music. Fun to try and sing the lyrics too---especially Weekend Thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Koffee Brown Is Tasty, April 13, 2002

Koffee Brown's debut is definetly worth the buy. I wouldn't hesitate on this PARTY STARTING OLD SCHOOL VIBE CD. While you chillin by yourself or entertaining at a Barbeque this is the one to pop in. You will find that this cd offers selections mainly about relationships which is oh so common. But the vibe that you will get from this cd is like no other. The whole entire cd is straight. The songs to listen closely too are........ Weekend Thing, After Party and Didn't Mean to Turn You On but stop there. Enjoy! One Love.

With this male, female group being produce by Kay-Gee their giving you some of that Zhane sounds with a 2001 style. Good to see a guy and gal with so much flavor, is that just a Jersey thang.Good to hear great R&B sound keep up the good work Koffee Brown.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best "Koffee" I had in a while., March 15, 2001

I just picked up the new Koffee Brown after listening to most of the cuts on the best internet station on the net... I have to say, this CD is on point. "Afterparty" is not the only hit off of this CD! You should be hearing this CD throughout the year. From party grooves such as "Weekend Thing" and the current single to straight up ghetto hymms such as "Fingerpointing" and "hater's disease," this CD is a keeper. A very promising debut. It makes me wonder how an Alexander'O Neal/Cherelle CD would have sounded. hmmm.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Koffee is very addictive, March 12, 2001

My first encounter with the duo of Koffee Brown was when they made an appearance on Next's Debut CD Rated Next on one of the many highlites was tune call Problems.. After hearing that tune i knew they had something special happening.. After hearing their debut single After Party i knew i had to have their Cd once it was release.. I have to say i am so glad that i have added this Cd to my collection.. Mars/Venus should keep music fans a like happy they have something on here that will satisfy every one musical taste .. It has a little of retro/hip hop sound on the current single After Party.. A few slamming club tracks Weekend Thing , Didnt Mean To Turn You On.. Hot ballads like I Got Love (Scars), Qualified.. This Cd even have a little bit of Spoken Word/Poetry on it Mars/Venus(Interlude) other highlites on the disc Finger Pointing, Chick On Da Side, Hater's Disease..

What also makes this CD great the songs come from both a man's point of view and a woman's part of view so it should have a very wide appeal to every one.. All n All a very well rounded CD that is very addictive once you start playing you will not be able to stop playing it..This Koffee is good to the very last drop.. Pick it up folks think you will enjoy it

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Duo, February 29, 2008

This review is from: Mars/Venus (Audio CD)
Sometimes, the best music of any genre isn't from the big names. This is one of those cases. I took a chance on Koffee Brown and bought this CD and let me say, I was plesantly surprised! "Mars/Venus" was one of the few CD's I can say that I can listen to and not skip at all!

My favorites are "weekend thing" and "after party" but the whole CD is good. Some tracks aren't age appropriate for kids though! While no where near as raunchy as many rap albums of today or R & B singers as R. Kelly, Adina Howard or the legendary Millie Jackson, its probably best kept between you and your significant other.

Beyond that, I consider this one of the better pieces of R & B/Hip Hop out there! Worth the price!
