Replaced identical defective regulator (original less than two-years old) on my Keystone Alpine RV. After installation, there was minimal gas flow...not enough to light the furnace at altitude in Colorado. Suburban water heater flame was also minimal with yellow flame. Finally, lit stove burners: minimal flame on one, and unable to light more than one.

After consulting with local RV store and researching online reviews, it seems that these regulators are known to be unreliable. I've now installed a " Camco 59005 RV Propane Double-Stage Auto-Changeover Regulator" (also available on Amazon for less money)...this regulator works flawlessly even at altitude in CO--all appliances have plenty of pressure to operate simultaneously.

Lasted less than one year. If you buy one, be sure to get two, so you can have a spare on hand.

As a side note, I worked for years as an LP service tech, and it's hard to find one of these automatic changeover regulators made for RVs that last. Most of them are junk! But, I was lured in by the cheap price (even me, who should know better!!!)

I replaced it with a Rego brand regulator, a model that's made for a regular house installation, and paying the bigger bucks to get a quality unit that will last.

We installed an on demand water heater and were having issues with it cutting on and off. The original Marshall regulator would only allow 195,000 btu of gas, 10psi, and 11" water column. This units allows 235,000 btu of gas, 10 psi, and 11" water column. This unit resolved my issues and I now have continuous hot water, even when the range and heater are on.

My RV (a Chalet A-frame trailer) came with a Marshall Gas Controls 254-00 regulator, which after 10 years was not doing a good job of regulating. Marshall Gas Controls (a different company than Marshall Excelsior) went out of business in December 2012 and the 254-00 regulator is no longer available. This MEGR-8884 regulator mounts and connects exactly as the old 254-00 regulator and appears to work very well!

Shame on me that I did not read the reviews and got sucked in by the low price. Installed in the late fall and discovered failure on first use of the spring. Amazon took it back without a hitch.

Going to get a more expensive unit -- read the reviews and you will get some suggestions.

Product works preety much as advertised. I expected auto switchover when
one tank ran dry, not so. In my application level window is hard to see I had
to add a mirror.

works as advertised and delivery was fast. It is noisy though emitting a high pitched tone when everything is on. Fortunately that is outside so it is a minimal problem.

Seems to work fine. Only reason for three stars is because it arrived with a broken handle. You can still turn the knob, but uncomfortable.

I hesitate to post these types of reviews when there may be user error involved. But I"m not overly impressed. Holes weren't tapped was the minor issue. The bigger issue is that it failed to switch tanks or show the first tank as empty in a recent cold weather trip, leaving me in the cold. Also my appliances don't seem to be burning cleanly since I put this in. Off to try another brand I think.

Edit - 12/4/14 I just talked with Marshal. The 9984 is discontinued. The 253 is the replacement and is a marriage of what did work from the 9984 and the best parts of the old Marshal Brass unit. DO NOT BUY the 9984. From talking with their tech department I do have confidence in the 253 and will go ahead and get that. Otherwise you have to step up to their mobile home line which is probably in the $150 range for a super high quality unit.
