I use this (with expansion panels) just about every day when I'm cleaning cages or when I need to have the ferrets in a different part of the house.It's convenient, but eventually the hooks and eyes that latch the panels together fall off. You can replace them with twist ties or string,though, depending on how determined your ferrets are to "weasel" their way out.

We attached this to our rabbit's cage so that they could have a small play area during the day. They love having more room than just being in a cage! We also moved a few states away and on the car ride got it out at rest areas to let the bunnies hop around. It worked great! It is strong enough for my one year old daughter to cruise on the outside so she can look at the bunnies.

I've only used it a few times. My huge hamster and my smaller rats can squeeze through the bars really fast. My larger rat can climb up to the top and then climb down to get out. No matter how many toys and treats I put in there, all the pets want to do is get out. They're so occupied with escaping they don't even play! Maybe with the cover it would be fine for large enough animals, but I don't think it's worth the money.

This playpen is great for my bunnies. They have lots of room to run around and play with their toys. I would highly recommend this playpen for your small animals.

I have both the cage and the mat/cover (in blue). I bought it for my chinchilla to get some out of cage playtime so I knew he could not get into wires and other hazards. The mat/cover has held up well to my chinchilla's daily use for a few months now. The only problem I was having at the time I got it was that my chin would always try to jump out and escape! LOL. I covered the top of the cage with a sheet to keep him in. After he got a cagemate to play with that escape activity stopped, but the locking thing for the door to the cage has to be used, as he quickly learned how to get out of the cage door by lifting it.

I like that the playpen is large enough to allow for some of the larger toys for my chins, like a 15 inch wheel, chiller and hide-out house, and still have room to run and play. Plus its easy to affix accessories like leaping ledges, and water bottles. Keep in mind that it is not quite water PROOF, more like water resisitant, so if you attach a drippy water bottle, your floor will see it. Since my chins rarely pee in the playpen and we get it up right away, I have not had urine burn issues on my carpet. I like that I can vaccum up dust, poopies, and hay without problem off of this cover and it is really easy to rinse off in the yard with a hose if it does get a little dirtier.

Since the cage is completely foldable and easy to set up, I would HIGHLY reccommend this to anyone who anticipates a need (emergency or otherwise) to move their chincillas to another location in a hurry. Take one of these and your furbabies in travel cases with their food supplies and not have to worry about breaking down an actual cage and taking bedding (how long would THAT take in an emergency?)


It should go without saying, any animal placed into a playpen should be watched, no matter how well behaved you think your pet is!

i orignally bought the pen for my kids' easter bunnies. it worked perfect. my kids were able to get the bunnies out of their cage and sit in the grass with them in the pen. Then we got a puppy and he has been using it. the pen works so much better than the crate that i have used in the past for a puppy. i have him a small animal carrier in the pen for him to sleep in and puppy pads down for him to potty.

Good idea, poor execution?

I have two ferrets. One of them discovered she could climb out of this pen using the horizontal bars in and around the sliding door as a ladder. Once she learned how, she was out as soon as you gave her five uninterrupted minutes.

I use this as a play pen for my lionhead rabbit. It's awesome when I want to have her in a room with me, but can't let her roam free our give her my undivided attention. She likes being in a new area and feeling like part of things and I like knowing she's safe. Easy set up and clean up.

I bought a second one to attach to the first. I love it for my bunnies. I recommend the canvas mat to go along with it, easy to clean, nice.

I got this for my mini rabbit & it works great & is much bigger than most indoor cages I've seen.
