Well it helps if you read the description before clicking buy. I thought it was the actual play pen and for the price I never looked back. Then it came in. Oops I messed up! Thats ok I got the pen to go with it.
So as far as rating the cover/mat. Its a love hate relation ship. I love it because I never have to worry about my ferret making a mess on the floor. However, its large and its a heavy material so once all is said and done folding it again is much like folding a road map... you wind up with a ball... and this ball has no way of keeping it folded. No straps, no tie like things it just sits. Get the bag that you can buy seperatly )if you can fold it the right way to get it to go in there...
There are velcro strips to hold the sides to the cage... ferrets find those sooo much fun to chew on... and standind on your head trying to weave velcro through the bars when it just wants to fall back on its self and stick again isnt the most fun you could have in one day. Oh and if you dont line them up the right way (theres a right way??) you will wind up velcrowing the little doors of the playpen closed so you have to climb over, or just not doing those velcro strips. (if they hang out there then they are WAYY so much fun for a ferret to chew upon)
Great idea, has a few design flaws but almost a necessary evil.

Great product for small animal owners. Provides nice play area for pets, or shades play place for pets who enjoy the outdoors.

This Mat/Cover works as advertised. Helps keep your Marshall Ferret Playpen sanitary for whatever small beasts inhabit. Easy to use, easy to clean.. A much better solution than some of the other generic non-fitted playpen mats out there. If you have the 18" Playpen this is a good investment.

Ordered this to go with the Marshall pet pen. I keep our baby chicks in it until they are ready to go in the coop. It is easy to clean and holds most of the shavings inside. I wish it was a bit taller and more octagon shape (vs. circular) so that it would be a tighter fit around the pen. But much better than having nothing or anything else I could have come up with for the base. I also ordered a second one to place on top to keep the chicks from flying out once they got a bit bigger and could roost on the edge of the pen. So, far, I have not needed to use it.

a must have to go w/the pen (i wouldn't use the pen w/out the mat/cover) but not perfect. most of my ferrets are fine w/this set up but i have one extra frisky ferret that can jump up on the bars and weave his way out of the cover between the velcro attachments. so if you have a determined escape artist, plan on keeping an eye on his/her play closely. we avoid surprise escapes by attaching the cover all the way around the pen with clothes pins. it's a pain but it works to keep the cover completely attached so my fuzzy can't push through.

No more blankets, no more towels! Love this product. It has velcro to attach to the pen. I have put mine through the washing machine! A must have to go along with the pen.

I wrote a review on the smaller pen also, but I want to post it here to warn rabbit owners. These pens are very dangerous because they are known to come unlatched. When this happens the curious little rabbits like to see if they can get out, for us and others this resulted in the death of the rabbit. I recommend a pen built for dogs to house your rabbits in. These seemed like a great idea at the time, but if you value your rabbit, do not buy.

I saw a post on how these could be dangerous for rabbits and wanted to add my 2 cents. I also have one that my 2 rabbits are currently housed in and yes, they get out! They've gotten out about 4 times in about 3 weeks. They also chew the matt/cover. I will be purchasing them something else to live in. Be very careful!

je suis bien contente d'en avoir prix 2 (un pour le plancher et un pour le toit). Ainsi je peux laisser courir mes chinchillas sans craindre qu'il ronge quoi que ce soit ou il mange de l'herbe (dehors)ni qu'il s'échappe en dehors du parc.
