I checked this book out of the library and was so impressed I am asking Amazon.com to find me a copy (it is out of print). It presents Marshall's strengths and weaknesses and those of Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, De Gaulle, Truman, MacArthur and many other powerful people from 1914 through 1959. Five stars!!! I am now going to read as many other of this author's books as I can find.

The book did just what I hoped: included plenty of factual and historical information, assembled it well, made a powerful picture of the character of George Marshall, and was enjoyable to read with good pace and flow. I backed off from giving it 5 stars because it did not have the electrifying quality of, say, Robert Caro's LBJ biography. However, I would still recommend it for being both enjoyable and informative, and a good choice for anybody wanting to learn more about an important and too-little-known hero.
