I ordered these white hand towels at the same time I ordered the BIG towels and washcloths. All Martex Egyptian white. Well, the washcloths were very well sewn, fairly thick, soft and pleasing. The bath towels felt even thicker and again, sewn well. Quality towels. (Note, I never washed them, they are a wedding gift).

HOWEVER, the hand towels were noticeably different. The towels felt thinner, looked thinner, and there appeared to be fewer loops per square inch than the bath towel. ALSO, the two horizontal stripe bands sewn across the towel's end were slanted. This was the case on both hand towels in the set. There was about 1/2 inch difference from one side to the other. Started low and angled up across the towel.

I contacted Amazon and got my money back. Amazon was very gracious. They are packaged to be returned as defective. These towels were from early December 2004 stock. Immediately after I received the towels, Amazon ran out. Now on the 19th of December, it looks like they are back in stock. I hope they started carrying the GOOD towels to match the others. Maybe a bad mill before? I am nervous to try again.

I purchased 7 2-packs of these towels when they were offered for free as a bonus when buying the Martex Big Bath Towels. These hand towels are 16" x 28" and are very thick and soft. They are very absorbent and have held up very well after many washings. No fraying or bad stitching. A very good deal especially as a free bonus for purchasing the bath towels.

These Hand towels do not match in color the Rattan Martex Egyptian Bath towels or washcloths!!! These hand towels are of inferior weight when compared to the Rattan Martex Egyptian Bath towels or washcloths...

All in all, If you want MATCHING Bath Towels, Wash Cloths and Hand Towels, DO NOT order these!!!

The quality of this item is terrible it was not what was in the picture or what wat described. Do not buy this item.

The handtowels I ordered in Lemon Yellow came in a very ugly shade of brown. Also, the quality was not good. I returned the order for a full refund. Even though the order error was an amazon problem, i was charged for shipping. All in all a very bad escperience

I ordered them in the Shadow Green and they are thick, absorbent, soft and luxurious!

I like these Martex hand towels. They are thick, thirsty, soft, smooth and maitain the same shape after many washes. The quality is excellent far above the other brand that I have tried such as JCPeney, Polo, Caress Mervynn, Target.etc.

These towels may be soft but they are not very good quality, and I definitely wouldn't purchase them again. I had only washed these towels once when I noticed that the hem was already unraveling on both towels, exposing an unattractive unfinished edge. Also, I think it's strange that the decorative bands (2 stripes of different textured fabric, same color as the towel) only appear on one edge of the towel. I don't understand why they made them asymmetrical like that. I suspect they sent me a batch of factory seconds.

I bought the hand towel together with bath towel for $10 when there was a sale going on Amazon. I am very satisfied with the product and the price I paid.

The hand towel (also the bath towel which is made of the same material) is pretty thick, feels soft and smooth for your hand, face and body. In fact, they are much better than most of those you can find in WalMart, Target or Kmart albeit theirs may be a bit cheaper (not so if you buy when there is a sale like I got).

The other advantage is its durability. Many towels I bought from cheap stores last only 2 or 3 months before they become stiff or the fabric loosens. The toughest test usually is when towel is put into dryer, which I do periodically for cleaning purpose. After several dryer's operation, many towels have to be thrown away. But not for Martex. Although it also shows tendency of aging, it does so much slower. And I am still happily using them after half a year.

So absolutely buy it when there is a sale.

I ordered 12 of these in "Lemon Chiffon" and found them to be THICK SOFT ABSORBENT and beautiful towels! Been using them over a year now with NO COMPLAINTS. I did NOT receive factory seconds, either. Pure egyptian cotton, and at about $1.50 each, they are a BARGAIN. I recommend them!
