4.0 out of 5 stars Microfine wires?
I just unpacked this electric blanket. I had to come back to this site to check that I had read something about it having small heating wires... they use the term "microfine"! HA! They may be soft (for wires), they may be pliable (again, for wires), but they are definately not "microfine". It feels like there are 12 gague wires running along in there!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very stiff blanket.
It does warm. Unfortunately, it is very stiff and ungiving. It tends to slide sideways during the night leaving one of us uncovered. Why it was designed to have two plugs for the separate controls is beyond me. The heating wires are very thick which adds to the stiffness. The placement of the label on the corner of the bed is another mystery. Obviously designed by...

On a better note, I plugged it in and it got warm. The boost mode seems to be a very cool feature and everything looks very well made, especially the controls and the plugs. The queen (and king version, I assume) require 2 outlets, unlike the last one we had which joined together and required only 1.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very warm nights, September 6, 2005
You'll be hard-pressed to find a better heated blanket. It is a little stiff as other reviewers suggested but it loosens up with use. The warming cords are not microthin but they are thinner than most other heated blankets.

I've found this blanket to provide very even warmth with no cold spots. and it seems to be much more accurate and even throughout the night.

The blanket requires 2 outlets, one for each side so you may need an UL listed heavy duty extension cord depending on your situation.

I received this blanket and expected it to be ivory like the photo, it's considerably more yellow, more like french vanilla. Like the other reviewer I thought it would have less noticeable coils. It is a major improvement over my old electric blankets' coil systems. The boost feature is great and it heats uniformly. It appears very well made and does have a 5 year warranty. So far I'm very pleased.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only one side works and even that is a gamble, November 17, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First, I bought this when it said "wire free" blanket (ie. it used some kind of heating tape) and the blanket has very definite heating wires just like any blanket from the past 40 years.

Second, the stupid thing won't heat on one side and the second side is unreliable at best. The worst side just continually gives "E4" errors and won't heat at all. The other side works 50% of the time, again giving the E4 or even E6 errors. It has done this since the day I got it, although not as frequently, so I should have sent it back to Amazon but instead, I delayed and now must deal with a warranty return.

This blanket is worthless for me. I bought it to pre-heat my bed on cold Colorado nights and more often than not, it just blinks the E4 errors continually and provides no benefit. Now, I must face sending the entire blanket and controllers back, at my own expense, to fix a product which is obviously poorly designed or has some quality issues (as others here have seen). For a blanket that costs over a hundred bucks, I'd expect to never have to deal with this kind of garbage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just say "Ahhhhhh", June 13, 2006
This review is from: Martex Fahrenheit Vellux Dual-Control Queen Heated Blanket, Ivory (Kitchen)
I've owned several electric blankets over the years and this is the only one I would recommend to anyone. As an allergy sufferer, I wash all my bed linens frequently, including blankets. The other electric blankets looked old and ugly after just one wash(in an oversize front load washer), as the acrylic pilled terribly and the wires became bunched up. I definitely wouldn't use the blankets for company--the only thing nice about them was that they were warm. The Vellux blanket, on the other hand, looks and feels absolutely brand new after 6 washings. I find the velvety fabric especially cozy and luxurious in the cold winter months.

I like how the controls conveniently "remember" your last settings. I usually turn on the blanket, go hop in my pj's and by the time I come back, my bed is comfortably toasty. Ahhhhh!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dual control is lacking in quality!!, April 5, 2006
I bought this blanket and within a month, one of the dual control was not working. I did not return the blanket because it was in Dec. and very cold where I live-Northern Ca. The remaining working control just went out in late March, after owning it less then four months. I have tried to look for a replacement dual control and cannot locate one. I do not reccomend this blanket because of the poor quality of the dual control. I purchased this because of the cold winters here in Northern Ca. I expected it to last a long time and to be of good quality because I paid alot for this electric blanket! Plus, it's such a hassel to return a large item like a blanket.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective merchandise, March 7, 2006
Very shortly after receiving the blanket and installing it on my bed it started having problems. It went from my setting of 12 to a setting of 6 with an E (error) message, and the blanket cooled way down. It did this on 3 consequtive nights when I finally realized there was a potentially unsafe problem and had to returned the blanket. Unfortunately, no replacements were available, so I purchased the same blanket from another source.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not get warm enough, January 3, 2006

I read another review of this blanket (can't remember where) where the reviewer said it didn't get warm enough, but I bought it anyway. Well, that person was right. It hardly warmed up, and some areas were cold. I was blessed with cold feet from October to March and they were not happy with this blanket. I returned it and purchased a Sunbeam Electric blanket for less money, and it's wonderfully toasty. My feet are very happy. If you like your electric blanket to be warm, don't buy this blanket. I liken the temperature to tepid.
