3.0 out of 5 stars Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime
The music is great...I would highly recommend it!! The CD packaging, however, had lost several of the spines of the inside circle and the CD was loose in the jewel case. There were also several scratches on the CD. However, it works so far on my home and car CD players. I'm not pleased with the condition of the CD and I considered contacting the source I got the CD...

I originally bought this CD for my new grandaughter. It is so wonderful I keep playing it over and over, and never get tired of it. To quote one of my favorite selections "It takes my breath away." It is a beautiful collection of mellow peaceful music for your children or your inner child. I plan on buying several more for my family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for kids!, December 5, 2001
By
This review is from: Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime (Audio CD)
This CD is wonderful! Where else can you and your baby fall asleep to BNL singing "Close to You?" Unlike most lullaby CDs (that are not instrumental,) this one remains at the same noise level and doesn't wake my daughter up when the songs change. (The only slightly loud one is "Over the Rainbow".) I leave it on all night and so far have not tired of it. I highly recommend this CD to parents who are tired of listening to the same old traditional lullabies.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Good Thing, July 8, 2002
This review is from: Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime (Audio CD)
I was shopping for some non-traditional music for my new son, and up pops Martha Stewart Sleepytime. I have to say I clicked on it out of sheer curiosity. (Martha Stewart? Childrearing? Hmmmmm....) I mean, she can weave a basket for me or show me how to make crepes, but I never actually considered her an expert on children. Call me crazy, but this CD is just what I was looking for.

The music is, above all, very soothing. The vocals are smooth and relaxing, without being too babyish. The fact is, most of the songs are not kids songs at all. Its a wonderful mix of modern and folk singers, which blend to make for a nice addition to your evening routine.

There are a few surprises, like Barenaked Ladies crooning 'Close to You', or Bobby McFerren on 'Common Threads'. And I absolutely adore Keb' Mo'. Then you have a few of the more expected tracks, such as Allison Krauss singing 'Baby Mine'. It's a nice version, but I'm still scratching my head wondering why everyone feels the need to use this song on thier kids' CD. Love ya Dumbo, but been there, done that!

Bottom line: if you're looking for something to listen to while you're rockin' that bundle of joy, here's your ticket. It's a 'good thing'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best baby CD I own, October 15, 2005

This review is from: Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime (Audio CD)
Soothing and easy to listen to for quiet time with baby. So unlike other CDs that are "powder puffy" or classical. Great CD for nursing and cuddling. I absolutely love this version of "Over the Rainbow" - beautiful and original. This CD helped make these special times w/my baby even more memorable. I will buy this again and again for my pregnant friends and family.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic CD you will be happy to own, July 7, 2005

When my 2 year old daughter was a baby, I played this CD every time I wanted to soother her, which was almost daily for the first 9 months. The music on this CD is beautiful, not only does it introduce you child to some of the best songs ever written like Blackbird, Close to You and Over the Rainbow, it also introduces your entire family to some wonderful singers like Alison Krauss, Bobby Mcferrin and Eva Cassidy. I have moved away from the compilations in favor of more original fare but this album remains a stand-out. This album has created a bond between my daughter and I that will always remind me of those first precious months of her life. I received it as a gift and I proudly give it as a gift to new parents. Lastly, Eva Cassidy has one of the most hauntingly beautiful voices you may never have heard, her rendition of Over the Rainbow is sublime.

I have a bunch of baby/kids CDs, many of which are annoying to me. Martha Stewart's Sleepytime CD is among the best. I love to listen to it, even when I'm not with my little boy. It is great music to work to as well as to relax to (or nap to!). I highly recommend Sleepytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy Lullaby CD for New Parents!, December 8, 2004
By
This review is from: Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime (Audio CD)
Based on the great customer reviews, I bought this CD -- and everyone was right. This is a wonderful CD for babies... and parents. On my own, I listen primarily to CCM music, so I was fairly unfamiliar with these artists. No worries -- buy this regardless of your affinity to these artists. I have come to love these songs, and find myself popping in the CD even when my baby is not around. The songs are peaceful and quiet -- not like other lullaby CD's that can startle a little one with unexpected punches in the rhythm or volume. It has put me to sleep (in a good way) several times. I am so sold on this CD, that I'm going to be shopping thru the line of Martha Stewart CD's. A MUST BUY!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Martha Stewart Baby: Sleepytime (Audio CD)
I thought it was weird to buy a Martha Stewart CD but after I listened to some of it on Amazon I bought it. After a while I noticed that my wife was putting it on when our boy was "freeking out" and it was very calming. I can't believe this is his favorite CD, but it is.

I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN THE USUAL KID OR BABY SONG CD AND STUMBLED ONTO THIS LITTLE TREASURE THAT EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY LIKES (6 YR OLD, 4 YR OLD AND 1 1/2 YEAR OLD, AND HUSBAND!).
I GIVE IT OFTEN AS PART OF A BABY GIFT AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO PLEASANTLY SUPRISED.
