All of the Martha Stewart punches are great.
Crystal D. Siler
I was using 100# cardstock and it would occasionally "stick" and have a hard time releasing.
Roper
It stamps, cuts the circle, and embosses the edging all at once.

On the same day I purchased this punch, this punch broke. I was using 100# cardstock and it would occasionally "stick" and have a hard time releasing. It would also leave the mini-tabs on either side of the button. After about 80 punches, the handle broke off inside, and two identical pieces fell out from inside the punch. I have to say that I was very disappointed that this punch broke the same day it was purchased. I would expect more from EKSuccess and Martha Stewart however, I guess they, like everyone else, is cutting quality these days but yet, putting a higher price on the product.

BTW, this is not my first MS punch. I have approximately 17 other punches and have not experienced as severe problems as this one.

I love this versatile punch! I have only had it a couple of month's and I have used it on everything! I loved the added feature of embossing! It was a little spendy- but I am so glad I got it! One thing I might change it that it doesn't seem to be able to handle anything thicker than standard paper such as posterboard or equivalent. This was a little disappointing considering the price and size of the punch. I would have expected it to be a little more heavy-duty. However, with the embossing feature, it may be difficult to incorporate the capacity to deal with paper/material that is thicker than the standard.

My comparisons and critique are based on my experience with the 15-20 other punches I am currently using.

Fantastic embossed buttons produced, but only four stars because:
~ Minor design flaw makes squeezing the punch unnecessarily difficult.
~ Lack of paper guides, found on many other punches, compromises ability to capture selected design, copy, colour, or image.

Uses for embossed buttons:
~ Card making
~ Envelope enhancement
~ Collages
~ Sprinkled in front of me as I walk, better to admire them and make me feel (more) queenly.

Papers I use:
~ Fashion and house beautiful magazine pages for splashes of unique colour. (A Vanity Fair magazine I found in my mag stash produced some gorgeous buttons.)
~ Mundane looking, yet colourful junk mail flyers cranked out some surprisingly stunning beauties.

Delighted to discover I could capture words in copy and faces in photographs, a fascinating idea for grandchildren's B-day cards.

Brightest colours in smallest pattern worked best, as with my MS butterfly punch. Martha Stewart Crafts Large Punch, Monarch Butterfly and my much smaller butterfly thumb press punch. Ek Success Paper Shapers Small Punch, Butterfly

Useful features:
~ Sturdy and stable, unlike some in my collection.
~ Punch can be turned upside down to view captured combinations of colour, pattern, copy, or images.
~ Stores upright on end for limited space storage.

I used this punch to make confetti for my baby shower (about 5 cups total). I have a few MS punches and prefer them to most of the less expensive ones. The Button punch worked, but I didn't like it as much as the other MS punches I've used. As other review(s) have noted, it did stick using standard cardstock and consistently left a "hanging chad" on the upper right button hole. A little extra force helped the sticking, but the hanging chad was hit-or-miss. Thinner paper was a breeze and I had no problems at all.

That said, I was punching A LOT of buttons and wasn't using a table for leverage. I also never used wax paper or aluminum foil to lube/sharpen it. Considering how many buttons I've made in the last 24 hours, I'm happy with my purchase (just not my blister). The embossed edge is a nice touch and the size is very versatile. If it broke today I'd still feel like I got my money's worth and would go buy another one. Luckily it shows no signs of stopping and will probably perform even better on smaller projects in the future.

Like that it punches and embosses. Will use it lots instead of real buttons, since it doesn't add much weight or bulk.

This punch came in a timely manner and I do like it. But as others said it is hard to punch the button out and it does leave a" hanging chad" sometimes or sometimes the button piece sticks in the punch. Otherwise very cute and like it along with an embossing folder that is buttons.

I do not like it because you can not visualize what you want to cut, too expensive for its utility. NO!

No matter what kind or color I can make a paper button for any project! I like that even for a back up, when making cards at midnight and stores are closed, button right there!
