5.0 out of 5 stars Great for book binding! March 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this screw punch to use for my first book binding experiment. It is perfect for this! I used it to punch holes through a stack of (thick) papers and then through a fabric cover I made for the journal. It was super easy to use and punch the holes. Love it and will use it for more book making adventures!

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn' do the job. October 15, 2012
Product arrived today and I took it out to my workshop. Started with thin aluminum. Did not punch through it. How thin is the thin metal it says it can punch through? Tried it on cardboard with a foam backing. Punched through the cardboard but the hole was still filled. The blank didn't get into the tool as it should. Tried it on styrene-based foam and pulled off a hole but it was not clean and way too big. Tried changing bits. Still not making clean holes. The caveat seems to be that you need one of Martha's "self-healing" cutting mats to make this thing work right. Bummer! I was all geared up to make clean holes in card stock, foam and aluminum. To all the four-star reviewers: you must know something I don't. Live and learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars great little punch June 3, 2011

I've only made a couple craft projects with this punch but I really like it. Of course, I have a tendency to buy things that capture my interest and then never use them...I think it's called pride of ownership. But with this little gadget, I've found it's well-made and quite easy to change the size of the punch size. Easy to operate and beautiful results. All in all, I'm very happy with it.

I don't plan to heavily use this punch, so for the purposes of sporadic book binding - it works really well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not loving it
Screw punch is not very sharp. There are 3 "bits" to choose from for use, but not very sharp. You would be much better off using your cropadile.
