It is what it is, and hopefully you know that since you're looking to purchase one. Hopefully you're looking for a cheap, effective, self defense tool that is easy to carry on your person and most likely legal where you live. No spray, no battery, just a plain machined and coated piece of aluminum.
One look at this simple item hanging from your key chain and it's purpose is pretty clear. It's no key fob.
The price has gone up but the product hasn't changed. As to date, this is the cheapest one on the site of this variety. I like this style. For my hand (an average man hand? with sub-average stout fingers, lol) it adds substance when rolled into a fist. It's thick enough that I can squeeze it without fear of it slipping through my fist on impact like some of the thinner models. It's not heavy like the steel Kubotans on the market, but I wouldn't be comfortable with the added weight on my pocket.
Expect the potential of a fair scratch across the top of the Kubotan where the assembler put the key ring across. I wouldn't worry too much as the item is going to get fairly scratched up, preferably by your keys and not impromptu use.

Well I guess all there is to say is that its plastic. Pretty upset with that, could of just made it at work. But at least I got a model of how to make one.

I ordered a metal kubotan and received a molded plastic child's toy. One could see how this would be upsetting... Save your money. Go to a store and buy the real deal.

Just got this item a few days ago and am quite pleased with it. Its solid aluminum, smooth with grooves cut in to give a better grip. Just lightly taping it on the back of my hand was enough to cause some pain, one can only imagine what a hard whack with this would feel like. Makes a good less lethal alternative to carrying a knife. Youtube has some good videos on how to use it properly, just search for kubotan.

Not bad for wat it is, this product is very light and very sturdy, but this is because it is solid aluminum.I woulld not pay anymore than 1.99 for this item because of the fact that all it is is a piece of aluminum bar that has grooves machined into it

When TSA took my old Kubotan from me at the security check point (along with the key chain it was on) I went to look for another one. While my first one was police issued this one holds up well to those standards. It very sturdy and I feel good carrying it. it doesn't add too much weight to my key ring. I purchased 3 and gave 1 away to someone. They like having it on their keys also.

Ordered two of these for 5 bucks each with free shipping. For that price cant beat that! Feels real strong and has good weight to it & smooth & comfortable also. Will reccomend if looking for a good price simple baton that can be useful. Gave one to a female friend of mines & she loves it. Put it on her keychain. I will be ordering more...

I saw a customer at my work with a kubotan in his hand with keys attached. I've trained in martial arts for years but never even heard of a Kubotan. After seeing his, I looked it up here on amazon and purchased one for myself. Having been a victim of violent crime in the past, I like to always have something on me but I dont like to carry a knife as I might have to kill somebody. The kubotan comes in very handy and I keep it in my back pocket...so dont ask for my wallet or you just might get a kubotan to the temple instead LOl. I carry it everyday in my back poket; I've asked police officers about it and it's perfectly legal in CA for self defense. I've never had to use it but i sure feel more secure having it on me when I walk thru bad neighborhoods at night since I have to walk home from work. Once you have it in your hand you will see and feel that if you attack an attacker with this weapon of self defense he will most likely stop his attack and ask directions to the nearest hospital. Good for men and especially women. buy one today, they are inexpensive and heavy duty. worth the money, I'll never be without one again

I gave this to a friend who has to walk to her car in a dark parking lot after work. This could definitely hurt someone, and my friend feels safer now that she carries it.
