3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but for beginners to the subject
Brennan recounts the old stories of ancient archaeology through most of this book. He sites a lot of bible quotes to reinforce his contention that we came from Mars but doesn't really give any hard evidence as to how this was possible. This book is basically a collection of other books that I have read that were more interesting. More for people who don't know too much...

2.0 out of 5 stars Little connection between the title and what is delivered., August 26, 2001

This review is from: Martian Genesis: The Extraterrestrial Origins of the Human Race (Mass Market Paperback)
Although this book does present some intriquing archeological anomalies, and thought-provoking speculation, it fails to even come close to delivering the goods. The author revisits ground well-trodden ('face on Mars', ancient mysteries, mythology-as-fact), but offers nothing new. It is disjointed, and seems to have been put together hastily. Sub-par.

According to modern consensus civilization began about 6,000 years ago in Sumer, however, Mr. Brennan challenges this idea and suggests that it was much earlier, around 35,000 or 65,000 years ago, and also that we possibly could've been transplanted from Mars. All in all the book is pretty good, plus there's pictures of the face on Mars.

Brennan's book is far from the definitive book on possible extraterrestrial intervention in our species' history. But it's surprisingly cogent, fast reading that raises important questions without insulting the reader's intelligence. Brennan's thesis isn't developed into a working hypothesis; he leaves this thorny task for others to unravel. But the material here is certainly worth the few hours it takes to read "Martian Genesis."

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Genius and A Open Mind, August 30, 2000
This review is from: Martian Genesis: The Extraterrestrial Origins of the Human Race (Mass Market Paperback)
Personaly I think that All the Herbie's books that I have read have been very good, although many people may have trouble accepting his arguements, (you have to have an open mind), it shows a new thoery of how things happened that goes against most moden belives, but who to say one thoery is the right thoery, thought scientific ways the book shows you things that could shake your confidence on how the pyramids were made, for example. It is very well very insightful, and has a good amount of evidence to surport his ideas definatly worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Martian Genesis, April 18, 2000

This review is from: Martian Genesis: The Extraterrestrial Origins of the Human Race (Mass Market Paperback)
Contradictions abound! Mr. Brennan debunks the ramp theory of how the pyramids were built... only to give an equally invalid theory. He states that they couldn't have been built using a ramp theory, because you would need a block to be placed every 2 minutes for 20 years. He also describes how the density of the granite blocks doesn't allow for the surface room needed to lift them by hand. But the author then asks us to accept that they were built using a lever system in which 4 men could raise 1 block half-way up the pyramid in a single day. That would mean the flow of 1 block being placed every 2 min for 20 years would be a near impossible feat to accomplish due to the crowding on the site. 4 people for every block! 1 block every 2 minutes! There isn't enough surface area on the Great Pyramid to accomadate the workers. Further, he doesn't offer any explanation on how the stone was quarried to such precision with the limited tools available at the time! Although he mentions the fact that the base of the pyramid was leveled to within a fraction of an inch, he offers no explaination as to how, since it was a rock base. He doesn't account for the number of workers that would be needed not only for the lifting, but the placing of the blocks, the quarrying, the polishing, curing, and transportation. He assumes that there were just enough people around to do all of this work. If it took more people, then there were more people? There aren't enough skeletal remains, or dwellings to account for the sheer number of workers that would be needed. He puts down one theory because it doesn't meet a certain requirement, then offers his theory up and doesn't test it to meet the same requirements. Overall, a good theory, but you can understand why the author has more than 60 books in print... minimal research.

This book I found extremely interesting, talking about our Human origins and the reasons why. Quite well written and informative on the topic of Human Origins and evidence of a Martian civilisation in the past. very enjoyable.

How half of the archaeological sites mentioned in this book have anything to do with Mars is beyond me. If we came from Mars, then don't you think there'd be some kind of oral or written history about it? There's an oral history of Noah's flood, and of Jesus allegedly rising from the dead, but there's no mention of us coming to Earth from Mars. How could people forget such a momentous occasion?

The whole premise of this book is solely based on one picture. Overall this book sucks.
