5.0 out of 5 stars Truth Is Always Funnier Than Fiction
This book is pure GENIUS! As a producer who's gotten my share of network notes I can totally relate to the stupidity these other producers had to deal with over the years. The notes are a great glimpse at a long-gone era of classic television when the writers and producers were brilliant and the network executives were...well read it and you can form your own opinion...

3.0 out of 5 stars Straining to turn a few good stories into an actual book.
This book has some very funny parts, but not alot of them. The book itself is about the size of a paperback, and is 80 pages long. The pages are written as actual copies of memos, which means there is a lot of unused space on each page. All of this left me with the impression that someone has a good idea for a book, but didn't have enough actual content, which they...

The notes are a great glimpse at a long-gone era of classic television when the writers and producers were brilliant and the network executives were...well read it and you can form your own opinion. You can read the entire book in no time but it's worth owning because it gets funnier and funnier whenever you read it. An especially great gift for any television writer or producer...or network executive with a genuine sense of humor.

If you love behind-the-scenes stories from old-school Hollywood-TV than this is the book for you. A very telling, funny and somewhat pathetic look at TV's so-called movers and shakers during TV's salad days.

Having worked in film development and as a producer, I've heard it all. But the collection of memos that are included in "A Martian Wouldn't Say That" tops the cake. You have to have a sense of humor in this business. I recommend this little ditty for those writers, producers and development execs who think they've experienced every quirky comment that's come down the pike - but let's face it - we all know A Martian Wouldn't Say That! ;)

This is a magnificent collection of actual network notes to writers...I read this book whenever I am in a bad mood and instantly am not in a bad mood anymore. I hope it does the same for you...

The pages are written as actual copies of memos, which means there is a lot of unused space on each page. All of this left me with the impression that someone has a good idea for a book, but didn't have enough actual content, which they decided to addressed via the layout and physical structure of the book itself. At nearly 10.00 it ends up being a lot of money for just a handful of funny stories.
