The Fly-Shooter is exactly as claimed. It is fast, effective, fun, with a "0" frustration level because you always get your fly. I purchased five Fly-Shooters because I have friends who are "fly-challenged", and had expressed their disdain for those pesky insects. So I have given away three, and have kept two for me - one for my office at work and one for home. And, the Fly-Shooter IS fun - as I will sometimes take a break from working at my desk computer, and roam the work place with Fly-Shooter in hand and am ready, willing and able to shoot the next fly that I see, assisting co-workers where ever I go!

Flies are nasty, they carry disease, they bite, they annoy us. Most of us can't catch them with chopsticks like a great karate sensi. Enter the Flyshooter! Point and click, well point and squish! Works like a flyswatter only better! If you practice, you can even shoot them out of the air! This is a must have for anyone who lives where there are flies, mosquitoes, or annoying little brothers...no, skip that last. Anyway, get one, practice, and become flies worst nightmare! "Go ahead, punk fly, make my day!"

Fly swatting as sport!,

Much more accurate (and faster) than a conventional fly swatter. We have two (his and hers) and are perfecting our technique, starting with the (1) straight on splat or (2) the more difficult sideways stunner or (3) the most difficult inflight interception. good hunting!

We purchased one of these while in Alabama as a gag gift for my husband. It's turned out to be a very useful and fun way to get rid of insects in our home. I've purchased several more to give as gifts. They are sturdy and hold up very well with use. Sometimes you have to re-tie the cord, but that's been the only problem we've had so far.

This Flyshooter is too clumsy, breaks too easily. A suction cup dart is more effective, as from Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder,

I don't recommend this Martin Paul Flyshooter, except as a humorous novelty. It is not made very well. Mine broke on about the tenth practice shot. Never got a chance to kill a fly.Instead, I recommend the Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder, or other small dart gun, that shoots a plastic or rubber dart with a blunt, suction cup end. You can find one of the Nerf guns at --> Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder EX-3 Or a smaller Nerf gun at Nerf N-Strike Reflex IX-1 Dart Blaster This Martin Paul Flyshooter is not very practical for killing flies, since it has a large diameter swatter disk, and a very powerful spring. Perhaps too powerful. I would be cautious about using this to kill flies in the kitchen. You might break something, and possibly dent the drywall, crack a window, or chip off some paint. The fly killing, business end of the Flyshooter projectile is a plastic mesh swatter disk, about two and a half inches across, screwed onto a clear tube, made of hard and brittle plastic, with a metal spring, secured inside. This assembly is the fly killing projectile. When the trigger is pulled, swatter disk, clear plastic tube, and spring all fly to the target, as one rather heavy and fast moving projectile. On about the tenth practice shot at a wall just five feet away, that clear plastic tube broke in half, leaving my Flyshooter gun useless. It also looks like the trigger hinge on this Flyshooter might eventually break, since its hinge is solid plastic that flexes just enough to release the projectile. At MartinPaul.com, they replied to an email requesting pricing. They told me that I may purchase Flyshooters directly, in a carton of 72 for $142.56 plus shipping and handling. At $2 a piece, perhaps useful for novelty advertising. But this Martin Paul Flyshooter is not practical for killing flies. It's potentially more dangerous to humans, than insects. I bought my Martin Paul Flyshooter at an upstate New York tourist stand. I thought it a humorous novelty, because years ago, on the insect ridden Gulf coast, I amazed and annoyed people in a boarding house, by using a child's suction cup dart gun to kill flies and other kitchen pests. I used a toy dart gun that shot a soft rubber dart with a suction cup about an inch in diameter. A fly resting on the kitchen table was an easy target. Resting among the glassware and china, a fly could boldly lurk in plain sight, safe from the customary fly swatter. However, a fly would be completely vulnerable to the amazing suction cup swatter, which could make a pinpoint, precision strike, with little risk of breaking any glass or china! Unfortunately, those type of dart guns don't seem to be available, anymore. The closest substitute is the the Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder, which shoots a very fast and lightweight foam projectile, but with a smaller, half inch suction cup. I attached a bigger suction cup to mine, about an inch and a half across, taken off a toy arrow. This slows down the Nerf projectile, and makes it less dangerous to people and fragile glassware, as well as increasing the chance of hitting the fly. The big disadvantage of these novelty Nerf guns, compared to the old style toy dart gun, is that you cannot carry a Nerf gun as a concealed weapon-- a Nerf gun is just too big and ostentatious! I don't think Mrs. Hudson would let me into her kitchen with a Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder!

Great fun when you have nothing better to do! At night I prefer watching a bug zaper with a glass of wine but during the day this is more interactive.

What a fun and functional product - and you can't beat the price. My favorite use for this - Shoot hornets and stinging insects safely from a distance.

I first saw one of these at an RV show, and my friends and I thought it would be great for a gag gift. So far I've purchased about 15 that I've given out to young people and adults for birthdays, house-warmings, or even for someone to take to their bug-infested "country home". The guys especially like it as they run around shooting at anything that moves (everything BUT flies, that is). The perfect gift for that friend, co-worker or relative who "has everything".

It works like it's supposed to. Just wish the string was a little longer. But then again you really don't need the string.
