Why engineer in a weak point?,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Martin XR Recurve Bow (Sports)
This product is an example of a good design with a weak component. The weak point is a polymeric arrow rest which is held to the bow with double sticky tape. After having the arrow rest fly off with the arrow on every shot, I drilled and tapped the bow for two 4-40 machine screws and screwed the arrow rest to the bow. Great fix! The product now works as it should. Why designers come up with a well designed product then stick on an arrow rest with tape is beyond me. Seems like an afterthought. The product would be greatly improved if the arrow rest were fixed to the bow with screws or some type of snap fastener.

Very simple yet effective design. My 10 year old son was very happy when he opened this present at his birthday. He was overjoyed the first time he used it, now it has become a daily thing for him. Very easy to use, just make sure your child understands that this is still a deadly weapon, and all should go well. Came with a grip for left handed users, not important to us but great for those that need it. For the price I couldn't find anything better, extremely happy with the purchase!

My 10-year old son got interested in archery and didn't want a cheap toy. He searched on Amazon and read all the reviews of all options, eventually he settled on this one.I ordered it for him and he was thrilled. The length is just right for him -- big enough to make him (5 feet) feel powerful, but not too big to handle. I am impressed with the quality of this bow too.

Listen to me! Unless you want to fix the design flaws with this bow yourself, it is nothing more then a weekend toy. The actual bow itself is alright, but the manufacturer did not engineer an arrow rest into the design. They include a cheap plastic arrow guide that you stick onto the bow with double sided tape, which the first arrow you shoot is going to rip off. The winding on the bow string where you nock the arrow is soft thread and will come off after about 20 shots. So, if you buy this bow, plan on engineering your own arrow rest and buying a better string. I am reviewing this bow on what it is as it is sold, not on what it can be if you have the know how to fix the design flaws. The manufacturer should be shamed to send this bow out in it's current condition.

It's a bow, a plastic bow with NOTHING attached, You have to purchase seperately all the things to make this bow work, like arrow guide, etc. It's not even shootable. What a waste.
Then you can't even purchase the stuff at Amazon to finish off the bow... stupid

Martin XR Recurve Bow - Don"t waste your time and money,

A kit that looks and sounds cool, but delivers zero performanace. Martin archery should be ashamed for putting out such garbage. Draw weight is about 7 pounds, which isn't enough to reliably launch an arrow 20 feet with any degree of accuracy or force. Arrow rest is worthless. Don't disappoint and frustrate your kids with this Martin trash.

My first time purchasing a bow and I was happy with it. Includes a stick on guide for the bow but there's no need for it can be used without it. Is well made, strong and great design.

It is perfect for my daughter, she love it, of course she know that it is not a toy it's for training. Thanks!

It is a cheap bow; more a toy than a bow. Overall I don't really have much to complain. The product is OK.
