Archery is a tinkerer's sport, and a bow press is a necessity for just about any bow. I bought one of these for my Mathews Q2XL, and it worked perfectly. The pressing bolt can be harsh on the fingers, but a 1/2" socket fits perfectly over the bolt head, and turning it becomes a snap. When you fit it on your bow, be very careful to make sure the end-pieces stay placed properly on the limbs as you take up the slack in the cable. They do wiggle quite a bit until the cable is taut and may slip up. I pressed my bow with it at least a dozen times without any issues.

Since all bows are constructed differently, I've heard complaints of this press not fitting. Do some googling beforehand. Also, split-limb bows do require a pricey $40 split-limb adapter not included with the package.

This little but powerful bow press is really ideal for carrying along in your hunting pack. Always carry an extra string and this bow press with you when bow hunting on long trips because crazy things can happen sometimes...like a razor sharp broadhead accidentaly skimming the bow string and...well...its not pretty. The only setback that I can think of is that the steel cables like to come off the rollers alot and it takes some getting used to in order to operate it proficiently. I used this press to change bow strings and cables on my PSE Carroll Intruder (a very old bow, but still in remarkably good shape) and it took only about 20 minutes for my very first time changing cables and strings on my own. Hope this helps.

I was pretty skeptical before I ordered this bow press. (Even though the reviews for this type of press are very good. I was pleasantly suprised at the ease of use and the simplicity of this press. It is also very compact and lightweight. I have read a few negative reviews of people saying that it is hard to crank. I haven't noticed this at all! If you do any bow work on your own and don't want to spend a fortune on a bow press, this is for you.

I'd give this product 5 stars if it were better equipped to handle a crossbow. It isn't. I made a simple modification by crimping a steel band to the cable where I needed it for my crossbow and then it worked great. Good quality in workmanship and materials though.
Probably my fault getting the wrong press for the application.....

This little press is the perfect tool for any bow hunter. I restrung my own bow with ease with this tool. Its well built and wasn't nervous at all once it had all the tension of my compound on it. Great product.

Beware! Neither of the split limb adapters nor the tool work with the popular Hoyt Ignite nor Mission Craze or Riot bows, as they will not fit over the cams when the bow is at rest. The relief channels in the adapters are not deep enough. Nowhere is this warning seen although these bows have been out in one form or another for several years. I'm bummed, and am disappointed that I bought this device.

Although I didn't buy my press relabeled by Martin (this is a Prototech Industries product), the review applies. I just don't want others to have the same issue I did with the newer double cam bows.

I used this on my bow after tuning it down to ~60lb (+/- 5lb) of weight. Not even halfway into putting enough tension into the cables to reattach my strings, I heard a loud crack. I inspected my bow first, thinking that I may have cracked a limb. Fortunately, this wasn't the case. I then glanced at a section of the bow press cable. Several of the cable's fibers had snapped.

I do not feel safe using this product, and I would rather not lose an eye when it snaps on me.

I'm a beginner at archery. I'm practical. Can't own a bow without some kind of press to do your own work. How else will you learn about your bow? I looked at several portable bow presses just because I dont think I need a whole table and vice and all that. There was a problem with the post office delivery... I was slightly agitated at that....That doesnt have anything to do with the product itself so I'm still rating it 5 stars. This thing is simple...portable...and POWERFUL. I own a SaS Siege 55 lbs bow. I have seen a lot of questions on here about if this thing will work with this bow or that one. Look up mine and if yours is shaped anything like it you are good to go. The stoppers on the cable go pretty far down so I'd imagine it will work on a lot smaller bow than mine. I didnt need any adapters as the little limb hooks fit right through my forks at the ends of the limbs. Choose the closest stopper and lock the hook in place... slide the press away from the stoppers a bit as instructed. I forgot to mention placing the little leather shims they provide in the corners of the forks(this keeps the cable from eating into your limbs). I got this thing out of the package and my bow was literally broken down in 5 minutes. I only know what I have watched my roommate do with his bow, though he has a different kind of press. I basically watched and learned a bit. Now thanks to this press. I have a much better understanding of how my bow is strung and I was able to adjust my draw length to what I wanted. The handle is easy enough to turn for an able bodied male but there is a bolt top so you can put a socket or whatever you like on it to assist with turning it. I just love when a purchase satisfies^.^ This press is built to last and I will certainly be putting it to use whenever the need arises.
