5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive, high quality, great shooting bow, August 5, 2011
This review is from: Martin Jaguar Takedown Bow (Sports)
I've been having mine for a year and have 29 years shooting archery. Yeah cheaper bows like this may have the occasional defect, but from what I've read on other reviews there are more defective newbies stringing them than bad bows. Also Martin archery stands behind their bows period, if its defective they will make it right! If you are a newbie go to a range learn how to shoot and string a recurve, almost every range has rentals. And I have yet to meet a rude stuck up person that shoots at any ranges(they all love to share advice, teach & learn, if not they wouldn't be there) Once you know archery is for you this bow is as good as any bow out there and costs way less than the majority of them. It breaks down & packs up easily. If you want to use it as a bowfishing I would suggest sanding and sealing the limbs sides to seal the wood core from water damage. Dont buy the higher poundage if you really want to shoot targets alot, the 40lb is my bowfishing bow and I can easily hit a 2" bullseye @ 20yards without wearing you out & killing your abilty to be accurate. This coming from a guy that shoots 80lbs to hunt. The one true statement of archery its an aquired skill, no one is good at it from the start, it takes patience & practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars great bow, great service, May 29, 2010

When stringing the bow the first time, I sneezed and let the string slip on wrong, which led to a limb snapping... before i even shot the bow. I called the vendor and they gave me a free exchange! I'm now enjoying shooting this awesome (for the budget) recurve bow.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!, January 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fantastic bow. Goes together easily, accepts most compound bow accessories, about half as heavy as my compound. One thing to be sure of- make sure the brace height is set correctly. I shot for 3 months thinking this was a loud bow, but when I finally checked the brace height it was much too low (5 inches). I set it to 7 1/4" and put some cat whiskers on and you can't hear the thing at all.

This bow was a great decision. I use a cheapo sight on it and can easily put a group of 5 arrows in the bullseye of my practice target at 15 yards.
