I am a Bob Ross Instructor, certified by the company, and I highly recommend the Bob Ross Master Set to anyone who wants to learn the Bob Ross wet on wet technique. It gives you the tools and paint, and a 1 hour DVD. You will need to purchase an easel and canvas separately.
Pay no more than $100.00 for this set, however. If you pay more than that, you are getting scammed! Do some research (bobross.com is a great place to start) and see for yourself. If you purchased the Bob Ross Master Set at the right price, congratulations. You are on your way to painting happy trees with Bob, and you will not be disappointed.

The brushes appear to be of excellent quality, and the 37ml tubes of paint are larger than I expected them to be. I thought they'd be itty-bitty, but they are of a nice size. This set contains one tube each of pthalo blue, bright red, cad yellow, van dyke brown, midnight black, alizarin crimson, sap green, and titanium white. It also contains a bottle of liquid white (about 120 ml). I bought a 470ml plastic jar with a wide mouth (about 3-4 inches wide) at Hobby Lobby and emptied my liquid white into that. It makes it a bit easier to brush out the product onto the canvas than going from the original bottle (that's about the size/shape of a travel shampoo).
One thing I've read about from many people who paint this method is to have at least two of each brush. It's supposed to save you from a lot of constant brush cleaning, and I'd agree with that. If you try this set and like the Bob Ross method, you may as well buy a second Master Paint Set here at Amazon. Think about it. If you were going to buy another knife and the four brushes included in this set, and a small bottle of liquid white, you'd be paying pretty close to the price of this set, and you get the paints as a nice bonus. I've heard a lot of people complain that you pay a premium for Bob Ross materials if you paint this method, but I've found the brushes and paints pretty comparable to other lines -- so long as you do your shopping around. Buy paints locally at Hobby Lobby or Michaels when they have 40% off coupons. You can buy brushes there with the same coupons, or here at Amazon and pay pretty similar prices.
*Note* First time artists still need to invest in an easel, palette, canvas and a way to clean your brushes.

Great kit for wet on wet oil painting newbies, and nicer brushes than some others that we bought. Good deal for all the brushes you get and for the variety of paints. Read morePublished 17 days ago by K. Bryan
The brushes are very poorly made. They will not do you any good. Toss those and go buy you some new brushes. The knife is also no good. Read morePublished 18 days ago by Yeng Thao
