5.0 out of 5 stars fly rod and pole
Great product for the price. This was for my grandsons, 18 and 14. Worked great. As described. No problems.

Unfortunately the realm of flyfishing gear is truly a "get what you pay for" market. I am an avid fly fisherman and have invested probably as much as 5000 in good equipment over the last 10 years. Unfortunately the realm of flyfishing gear is truly a "get what you pay for" market. I am an avid fly fisherman and have invested probably as much as 5000 in good equipment over the last 10 years. I have seen friends that were turned off to the sport at first by bad or cheap gear. I guide many newcomers and it's always dissapointing to see that Martin full set up package come out of the bag on some beautiful morning in the parking lot near the river. I have learned to always have a decent back up rod and reel for the poor sucker who thinks he got a good deal.
1. The rod is never a true fly rod. It is long, but not built to cast fly line. The line they size to these rods needs to be 2 sizes heaver in order to get the stiff rod moving.
2. The reel will catch the line and wind it up in the gear within your first couple uses. This is guaranteed. There is a ridiculous gap between the reel bracket and the spool, and this Will happen over and over.
3. The fly line is always low quality and will not float for 10% of the time that a good line will.

I do not sell gear, nor am I invested in any company that does, but I honestly needed to tell people not to waste their time with these setups. They're cheap enough that the loss of money isn't all that bad, but a loss of an entire day on the river is a shame.
