I am a Presbyterian Church pastor and I used this historical video as part of our adult Church School program. It is an excellent summary, through the powerful words of one preacher, of how the civil rights movement confronted the evils of racism, sexism and a nation at war for the wrong reasons. Without Dr. King, the SCLC, and how they non-violently opposed the evils hiding behind false masks of "Americanism," America's struggle with living the preamble to the U.S. Constitution and the power of the Declaration of Independence would now be far less successful. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." The civil rights movement changed the definition and meaning of "men" from the original historical documents, to include all men and women, regardless of race, creed, color or national origin. I think that is a good thing.
