5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, good life span
Most guitarists I know tend to buy the typical 80/20 phosphor bronze strings. These are 92/8 phosphor bronze and it really does make for a nicer sounding string. The unwound E and B strings are bronzed. If you aren't into the nano-webb strings (I'm not)to get long life out of your strings, try these, the do last longer than the 80/20's. I use these on my D style as...

2.0 out of 5 stars Rattling sound
The lower strings create a rattling sound as you strike them. I've never experienced this before with other strings. So I thought these strings are perhaps too soft and hit the frets, but that's clearly not the case. A musician friend of mine confirmed the same impression. I have to conclude it's the strings that are rattling. I'm disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sounding strings, not for beginners, April 19, 2011

This review is from: Martin MSP4200 SP Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings, Medium (Electronics)
These are medium strings, which means they're a heavier gauge than light. Heavier gauges will have fuller sound and sustain longer, but they're more difficult to fret and bend and will hurt your fingers more. So if you're just starting out with a full size dreadnought guitar buy some lights instead.

That said, these pair very well with a short scale parlor guitar. The shorter scale means that the string tension is reduced, so medium strings will be more comfortable to use. Parlor guitars are smaller and have less natural power and projection than their larger cousins, so heavier gauge strings like these give them more presence.

Keep on pickin'!!

These are very good strings at a very low price. Although now I know I should have gotten light weight for beginning.........these are high quality strings and will last.

A great product. Has a good tone and strings last for a long time. Never had any breakage even of the G string that always seems to break

I'm not a guitar pro, but I have been playing for a few months. My old strings are awful compared to these. I love them.

Put these on a Hohner Acoustic to replace some nylon strings it had.
SUCH an improvement. Completely different sound. Crisp, clean, just amazing.
Cant beat that price either.
Snag a set of these! Not much else to say, Martin knows what they're doing.

I was long overdue for a new set of strings. I am a drummer and focus mostly on that, but I really do enjoy playing the guiatar in my spare time, but even with that said, I mostly focus on the electric guitar. So I was playing my Acoustice guiatar the other day and noticed how dead and dull it sounded. I knew the strings had to be changed. So I decided on this set and I couldn't be happier. I cannot believe how amazing these strings sound. I'm not even kidding when I tell you that it sounds as if I purchased a brand new guitar. Like I mentioned, I'm much more into drumming, so some of you actual guitarists might read this and be like "Well um, duh, obviously new strings make it sound better, just like new drum heads make your drums sound better!" But honestly, I'm not just talking about how it made it sound better by just changing them, it brought the guitar to life. I've had a few different types of acoustic strings on this in the past (tried different kinds over the years). But I hadn't tried these before and when I saw the reviews they got, I had to try them. They are incredible. There is no way you should be playing an acoustic guitar without these on there. Get them, tune that baby up, and you will be blown away!

I just bought 10 sets of Martin strings, and the reason simply is because the sound is very cool to play Irish music. I've tried other more expensive strings, and I think that Martin is my best choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only strings I'll use, November 28, 2011
This review is from: Martin MSP4200 SP Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings, Medium (Electronics)
I've been playing for over 20 years, and I have used these strings on my Martin D-35 for most of that time. The other day I decided to mix things up and try a new sound and put strings from a different company on there. Big mistake. The strings lacked the punch and clarity that I'm used to with the Martin strings. Ordering more right now so I can put Martins back on my Martin.

They're inexpensive, they sound great and I can now say that they are the only strings I'll put on my D-35.
