Product Description

Building on the success of the original Dynamo, MartinLogan designers went on to create the compact, powerful Dynamo 700. Featuring a high-current 300-watt RMS, 600-watt peak amplifier and 10-inch cone driver, the Dynamo 700 delivers deep, tight, effortless bass for home theater or stereo music. Its standard down-firing configuration quickly (and easily!) converts into a front-firing setup for those who prefer a "hidden" installation. Finishing touch - a wireless receiver for bass aficionados who prefer a clean, minimalist look in the room, no cables in sight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sounding Tight Bass., February 25, 2010
This review is from: MartinLogan Dynamo 700 10-inch Wireless Ready Subwoofer (Single, Black) (Electronics)
So I just bought a new setup that consists of a Marantz SR6003, Vienna Acoustic Weber R,L,C channel and Audio Monitor gold series in ceiling speakers for surround. Plus the dynamo 700.
The ML700 was easy to set up and was precise and hard hitting from the start even before break in. I had a little trouble with the wireless transmitter due to the fact that I have an Apple Airport express that sends music wirelesly from my computer to my reciever and the apple and ML transmitter seemed to interfer with each other. ( I was getting popping noises out of my ML. But after I moved the ML transmitter farther away the went away. I consider myself an audiophile and have been very happy with the setup of the ML and my viennas together.
Only had the ML for about 3 weeks. If anything should change I will report back.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Impressive Subwoofer, April 1, 2011
This review is from: MartinLogan Dynamo 700 10-inch Wireless Ready Subwoofer (Single, Black) (Electronics)
I recently purchased the ML Dynamo 700 from one of my local AV stores. I demoed the 500,700, and 1000 series, and while all of them sounded good(particularly the 700 and 1000) I decided for my needs the 700 was perfect. I've owned several subs in the past and this one rates as one of the best.

There are a few differences from the 500 and 700 model. First off, the 700 is a sealed enclosure while the 500 has two rear firing ports. I found the ports to muddle the bass a bit, and while I think ports can be a good thing in home theater I found that the 700 performed much better. The second difference would be size, as the 500 is much larger than the 700. While I wasn't particularly concerned about size, the 700 seemed to outperform the 500 in every way despite it's tiny cabinet(comparable to an 8" woofer enclosure). Frequency response on the 700 is pretty astounding, reaching about the mid 20hz range and the bass is incredibly accurate. I really needed a sub that could perform well in both a HT and music setting, and this sub excels at both. The 500 was less adept at reproducing clean tight bass for music which was one of the reasons I opted for the 700. The 500 is still a great sub, but I feel it could be far more effective in a HT arrangement.

The main reason for choosing the 700 over the 1000 wasn't so much about price but rather power. The 1000 is a beast, and in my setup I really don't need that much power. I would suggest it for larger rooms only, as the 700 is more than powerful enough to handle a medium to medium-large room. The only other reason I can think of to justify a 1000 over a 700 would be the slightly lower frequency response. The 12" woofer was more than capable in the extreme sub-bass area and definitely had a slight edge over the 700. Only very slight, however. These subs both run on AB class amplifiers which are far more efficient than the more commonly used class D switching amps, meaning you wont experience any distortion at max volume.

Overall an excellent subwoofer. The only issue i've run into has been the switch between front and down firing configurations. The screws do not want to go in all the way when I convert to a forward firing setup(it come downward firing by default) and while it still sounds great even with the screws unaligned it bothers me. I may switch it out for a different unit. This is hardly a performance issue so I didn't take away a star but it's certainly inconvenient. Who knows, it may just be my particular unit. Either way you wont go wrong with this exceptional subwoofer.
