I already knew most of the theory in this vid, but it was interesting to see Friedman's level of knowledge. Anyone who thinks this vid is boring should put down their guitar and shut the &#@$ up because i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Yes, this is universal theory, but it is important to all styles and important to overall musicianship. No, this may not share the same experience as watching Becker shred his *$$ off, but it provides knwowledge that any aspiring musician should definetely pickup on, if they already havn't. Great for beginners and intermediate players, in my opinion.

THis is one of the best instructional video's ever made. Marty is an excellent teacher, he breaks things down to their basic elements. this video is excellent for beginners and intermediate players, and i dont agree with the review before, this is far from boring.............

ITS A GREAT VIDEO THAT FOCUSES ON HIS STYLE OF PLAYING A SOMEWHAT AKWARD SCALES THAT MADE HIM FAMOUS IN HIS CACOPHONY DAYS AND HIS SOLO CAREER.A LOT OF GREAT EXERCISES.

If any of you out there are blown away by marty's soloing genius, especially from "Rust In Peace" then get this video while you still can

being a big fan of Marty's solos, but having never seen him in person (or on tv), I was surprised how uninteresting he is on this video.

The soloing examples are intricate but are played over simple chords/progressions with a slow tempo and he rarely uses distortion (on an electric "heavy metal" guitar). Marty mistakenly tries to make this "universal" guitar instruction that, unfortunately, would fail to keep the interest of either the beginner or the advanced player.

I don't think I'm asking too much when I expect a guitar video to not only be informative, but to be entertaining and immediately inspire me to pick up my guitar and play. This vid fails at that.

There are a couple of tips and arpegios to be learned, but...good luck trying to stay awake.
