5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best atmospheric doom bands I have ever heard..., April 4, 2002
This review is from: Martyre (Audio CD)
This is a great album for anyone who enjoys lots of "floating" atmosphere and heartfelt musicianship. I call these guys "atmospheric" for their heavy reliance on keyboards and guitar effects. The vocal styles range in this album from a quiet and clean voice, to a minimal growl (kind of reminds me of the vocals on Neurosis' Times of Grace), and then you have a death metal (sort of like a toned down Chris Barnes) growl that is intense and passionate at the same time. The music is passionate and sorrowful with long songs, Pink Floyd-ish guitar solos and great atmosphere that will lull anyone into a trance of peace. I have always been a fan of doom metal and I have heard my fair share of bands and none of them can quite compare to Saturnus in style. If you like stuff like My Dying Bride then you will like Saturnus.
