Product Description

This is the Marumi DHG Circular Polarising Filter 67mm [DHG67CIR]

Marumi Digital High Grade filters have been specially designed with Digital Photography in mind. Each filter uses a specially developed ultra-low reflection coating to minimize internal reflection off the cameras built-in CCD and cmOS Sensors. Other anti-reflect features include a special slim frame with satin smooth finish and a black ink process on the glass edge to eliminate flare. Thin mount design polarising filter with ultra-low reflection coating. Filter can be rotated to reduce reflection off highly reflective surfaces also increases colour saturation under sunshine bright conditions.

Excellent optical quality.

What's more, I compare the anti-reflective coating with others I have, and it equals my Hoya NXT and is significantly better than the no-name brands.
Steve
Wish it did just a bit better although for a CP, I cannot complain in good conscious.

I had not heard much about this brand when I started researching to find a 77mm filter for my new Nikon 80-200mm lens. I was looking at the Hoya (which makes a fine filter IMO) and B & W until I stumbled across the stellar reviews for Marumi.

Since I made the purchase for my 77mm filter it was so fantastic that I have replaced some of my other filters with this brand. I just purchased this one for my Nikon 16-85mm and it performs very well.

When you first take this out of the case you instantly know that this is a well built and precise filter. The threads are the correct pitch and it screws in easily. The circular motion feels solid and unlike some of the cheaper brands does not feel like it is going to fall apart. The quality is what makes this filter rise above the other brands in this price range. IMO, this is a $150 filter for about $60. I would not hesitate to buy another if something should happen to this one or I need another size.

The optics are fantastic. If you buy this filter I do not think you will be disappointed. This filter is made in JAPAN and not China like many of the other brands.

I have a Hoya moose warming polarizer for comparison. I needed something smaller to use on my lens with the hood attached. Everyone really liked this polarizer so I got one. Many other versions of this filter is very expensive, I've seen then for $130 - that's a lot of money for a filter, even if it is coated.

What I like:

The colors seem more saturated and warm than my hoya version. Because it's a coated lens, i have little to no glare over the lens so that alone might be the trick.

What I don't like:

I use this with a lens hood, so I can only use the front threads - and it's very hard to turn. it's very tight.

Also, when I needed to remove it for indoor shots, it was so tightly attached to my UV I could not get it off, and still can't. I need to get filter wrenches on this thing. I plan to use a Xume filter holder, a little pricey, but I can get them at BHphoto. So I can pop it off really fast.

If there is a way to soften the turning on this, it would be better. This may loosen over time, but it's 4 stars because i can't get the filter off, the UV is from B+W, it's brass, and almost nothing sticks to that normal.

I loved this filter, it has survived a lot of stuff, I droped it accidentally in a graveyard ( rock and dirt) at mid day, I came back to look for it an hour later and it was intact. Its made of really good quality and its super slim! you cant go wrong with this filter

Great filter and it's as good or better than Premium Hoya or B&W.
I have been using these filters for years and never had a complaint.
Excellent optical quality.

Excellent, well-made, quality optics, best polarizer I've ever owned in 30 years of pro shooting...at a very reasonable price too.

its OK not worth the price!!! it seems the quality of photography equipment has gotten pretty bad since I first started my hobby back in the mid 80's then I started with a Canon T70 and paid a reasonable price for my CPL filter I wish I still had it because by today's standards it would be worth $1000.00+ this filter has very little effect at cutting glare compared to my first one made over 30 years ago its effectiveness is sub par for the price I wish there was a camera shop in my area to test CPL's so I know what I am getting buying and returning items like this is a big pain! I will keep it since it does provide protection for my lens. if you are new to the hobby you might not know what to expect but this filter is way over priced I feel like I paid for a Ferrari and got a Yugo! because of not knowing the quality of the products I have stopped buying photo accessorys online

As much as I would love to justify spending 100+ dollars on a CPL. I can't

That being said, I don't want something that will negatively effect image quality.

This filter works very well in that regard. A nice strong polarization and no ghosting or CA.

If you're on a budget, this is a great choice.
