5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Marvel Adventure Titles, November 30, 2007

The first story with Modok - who should be a much bigger character in the MU than he currently is - alone is worth the price as the Avengers become the Mod-Avengers when Modok makes them all like he. The other stories are also pretty good particularly Ego the Loving Planet who's come to hit on Mother Earth.

Still not sure how Spidey ended up on the team while having his own MA book nor do we yet know Giant Girl's origin. Hopefully all will be explained in future volumes.

Don't be fooled by the Marvel Adventures kid friendly (all that meant was you didn't have to drink a still drink with broken glass in it after reading it) branding. The 4 stories in this book by Jeff Parker are some of the best Avengers tales ever penned.
The standout is the first story featuring the villain M.O.D.O.C. (they make M.O.D.O.K kid friendly by replacing the K in his name which stood for killing and replace it with a C for "conquering) in a wildly funny story "Everybody's M.O.D.O.C" where all of the Avengers are transformed into M.O.D.O.C's. The other standout is Ego the Living/loving planet who comes to earth to try and hook up with Mother Nature. This run was so much fun, trumping all of the other Marvel proper maudlin Avengers tittles in pure joy and imagination. The best and in no way dumbed down for kids.
If you like this check out Parker's top notch monthly Siege: Thunderbolts
